The moisture soothing the rasp in his throat, the slosh of liquid in his guts, the throb of his pulse in his temples - he'd felt steadier when he'd had a consistent, unrelenting discomfort to tune out. This just makes him uncomfortably aware of how much he'd needed something to drink.
