The skeletons hold up alright, if you use the bits that weren't already in the acid. Those bits will disintegrate as soon as they're moved.

For bone that wasn't already in the acid, it will last quite a while against the acid, around a couple days. John will need to watch out for the bugs, and any acid splashes, but he can make it through with his boney platform.
