Body hijacker central time: would the fungus interfere with nerves in a way that would inhibit Alec's ability to control them? I see from another answer they're spreading along the nervous system, so I guess the question is if they're actively replacing the nerves or coopting them, and if it's the latter, would Alec basically be playing tug o' war with a fungus?
