OOC announcements
Welcome to month 3 of cycle 2! The storm is back, and it's worse than ever. This time, there will be no event post on the main comm. Instead, make your own logs to include these prompts, and any other prompts you want to add. Near the end of the month, when only the hotel is left standing, a log will go live for everyone present there or in the graveyard. There is no mini-event this month.
Use the permanent change report form if your character damages or makes permanent changes to anything. Damage and change is permanent for the cycle.
Post any bulletins to the bulletin board.
NEW THIS MONTH
The hotel’s special for the month: bandannas and goggles.
The food at the buffet is far worse than you’re used to: it’s bland and flavorless, and oddly gritty. Your room doesn’t get refreshed every day. In fact, if you look closely, your room looks far worse for wear than you remember: there are cracks in the ceiling, it gets hotter in the day and colder at night, dust and dirt are built up in the corners.
When you visit the few other locations in town, you’ll find the employees quiet and fearful, and they may say some strange things, in addition to the handful of phrases they usually say:
The receptionist: “Might still be worth going out. Don’t want you to get cabin fever!”
Owner of the General Store: “Still got some jam! Livens up just about anything.”
The bartender: “Thinking about packing it in ‘til this storm blows over.”
The waiter: “It isn’t so bad! We’ll make it through this, we always do.”
The gravedigger: Watches you from in her shack in the graveyard.
The sheriff: Sits at his desk, and doesn’t frequent the saloon.
Looks like it’s going to be a bumpy month.
THE STORM
Content warnings: choking, being trapped, potentially being buried alive
Week 1
During the day, the heat settles to a slightly more reasonable level. It’s eerily quiet. Animals can be seen hightailing it out of town. Jackrabbits flee into the night, snakes and scorpions appear in broad daylight, trying to get the hell out of dodge. There is a distinct lack of birdsong. Out on the horizon, a massive dark wall gathers. The rifts from last month still criss-cross town, yawning darkly.
On the edge of town, unmoving, massive dust-shrouded mounds rise from the sand, circling the town haphazardly.
At night, high, hot winds whistle past the Staywell.
Dust devils whirl down the streets, knocking loose boards from buildings and flinging sand into eyes and ears and mouths.
Week 2
The sandstorm rolls in fast: one minute you are on the street in the heat of the sun; the next, it’s as black as midnight, wind is whipping past your ears and shoving sand into your face. You may want to board up your own windows.
Sandstorms roar to life in the blink of an eye, lasting anywhere from minutes to hours, with no clear pattern. If you’re caught outside when the storm begins, it can be almost impossible to find your way back into shelter. Sand whips at you with what feels like malice. It gets into your eyes and your nose and your ears, clogging your senses, making it hard to breathe. It’s sharp enough to scrape and cut you bloody, seeking out your soft parts like it’s guided that way. You can protect yourself by covering your skin, ears, and eyes from the sand.
To make things worse: massive bugs, ranging in size from mosquitos to large dogs, roll in with the storms, seemingly brought in waves every time sand hits the town. They are predatory and they are angry, and gnaw away at anything they can find.
The Diner’s windows shatter, and it closes down and the waiter is nowhere to be seen. Bugs cover the General Store, making it inaccessible (unless you want to wade through flesh-eating bugs). The Cactus Pad boards up its windows, and the bartender is often found sweeping sand out of the saloon. The pool is full of dust and grit, turning the water a churning, awful yellow.
The rifts are gone, filled up with treacherous shifting sand so that they blend perfectly into the landscape. Tread carefully, though: they're still under there, and all that loose quicksand might just suck you right down into one.
The only place untouched by the storms (and bugs) is the graveyard, which is once again free of sand, and full of a calming golden light.
Week 3
By the third week, only a few scant hours of each day are clear of sand and wind. If you venture out during those hours, the town looks almost unrecognizable, lifeless and half-buried under sand. Pockets of quicksand lurk here and there, undetectable until you’re already thigh-deep in one.
The wind is choked with strange, unearthly sounds: howling, whining, buzzing like thousands of insects crawling into your ears. It’s strong enough that you can feel it in your teeth, burrowing into you.
The diner is half-buried by a shifting, treacherous sand dune, and cut off by a shifting morass of quicksand between it and the rest of town. The General Store, the Cactus Pad, and the jail are also completely buried in fine, shifting sand. The bartender, the general store owner, and the sheriff are nowhere to be found. Bugs start to congregate on the north side of the Staywell, gnawing on the facade.
Week 4
The Staywell is an island in a formless sea of sand. The rest of the town is gone, reduced to flat plain. Outside, the storm rages constantly, cutting off the sun, so that the light is either heavy and red or black as midnight. Voices on the wind scream constant warnings, calling out the names of characters in town, screaming high and fast, under the whine and drone of shifting sand booming through the sky. The entire thing is a morass, liable to suck down anyone who walks into the sand.
Only a thin path of safety remains. It leads from the Staywell to the graveyard, although it too is dotted with quicksand and hard to navigate safely without testing the way in front of you somehow.
The only NPC left in town, the receptionist, seems unconcerned. He politely tells you “bit windy out there.” That’s the only dialogue he says.
tl;dr:
- Week 1: All the animals are gone, and dust devils kick up in the streets. Strange sand-mounds circle the town.
- Week 2: Sandstorms hit the town at all hours, making the outdoors inhospitable. The diner is closed. The sand hurts, and tries to find its way into your soft, squishy parts. Giant predatory insects make their way into town.
- Week 3: The sandstorms are near-constant, and quicksand dots what’s left of the town. The wind is full of howling and awful buzzing.
- Week 4: Sucking, choking sand has blanketed the town around the Staywell, leaving it a lone island in an endless dune sea. Only a quicksand-filled path connects the Staywell to the graveyard.
BUZZING
Content warnings: insects, biting, paralysis, being buried alive, burrowing insects & body horror
With the sharp, biting mouths of locusts and the grasping claws and poison tails of scorpions, the bugs brought in by the storms are fast, strong, and very dangerous. They seem to be coming from every direction. Their sting is capable of incapacitating a grown adult, and the larger the insect, the more potent and quick the effect. It may take 30 smaller stings or one very, very big one to render you completely unable to move, which is dangerous in all this shifting, sliding sand. Worse than that, these bugs will seemingly just about anything: they'll be found in clusters on buildings, chewing on the surface of the Staywell and any building left standing; they'll eat supplies and clothing and people, if they can manage it.
The big ones are bad, but arguably, the smaller ones are worse: they clog every surface not covered in sand, buzzing horribly, trying to find any soft surface to burrow into. They are particularly attracted to the rotting wounds left by doubles on people’s skin. Probably bandage those up unless you want to find yourself without a couple limbs.
While they’ll happily attack anyone they happen to bump into in a sandstorm, they seem to be particularly attracted to silence. Noise confuses and disorients them, disrupting their buzzing drone and making it difficult for them to locate their prey.
tl;dr:
- Massive bugs roll in during week 2 of the storms, coming in waves, ready to eat everything and anything, including people.
- They are locust-like creatures with buzzing wings and nasty pincers & stingers, which can paralyze you. They'll also try to burrow into open wounds.
- They are attracted to silence and repelled by noise.
Double Trouble
Content warnings: Potential psychological and physical horror, body horror, rotting flesh
Last time, the sandstorms brought in more than just sand, and this time around, it’s no different. Familiar figures materialize with the winds: your doubles. They’re back, and they’re worse than ever.
Everyone has an identical doppelganger. As before, these doubles are no ordinary doppelgangers: they are the absolute worst version of you, the version of yourself you are most afraid of becoming. They’ve disappointed your parents and let your friends down; they are arrogant, smug, weak-willed, sniveling.
If your double was killed during Cycle 1, they won’t materialize this time until late month, and when they do, they won’t be nearly as stong. In fact, they will be more wraithlike, like a particularly solid ghost, though they will have the same rotting effect when touched.
If your double previously appeared in Cycle 1 and was not killed, or you’ve never had one, congrats: they’re stronger and meaner this time around!
They are hellbent on replacing you by any means necessary. They will, just as before, try to tear your life apart in whatever way seems most: attacking your friends and your relationships, trashing your room and your reputation with strength, skills, and weapons beyond anything you’re capable of.
When they touch you, from the point of contact outward, searing pain rolls under your skin as it begins to rot. Your thoughts, memories, and sense of self warp and turn to hazy static. The longer they hold on, the worse these effects will be, and the stronger the doppelganger will get. If they hold on long enough, you’ll simply die.
Killing your double is the only way to reverse any of these effects. It will be hard, and it will be bloody and probably a little scarring, but it can be done. When they die, they’ll fall down in place and quickly rot before your eyes. Over the course of several minutes, they’ll become a bloody skeleton.
They’ll appear seemingly out of nowhere and disappear again when it’s convenient, although they can certainly be tracked, if you’re fast enough to follow.
If they aren’t killed, they’ll stalk you all month long, trying to ruin your life and take your place. Good luck!
tl;dr:
- You have a doppelganger! They’re the worst version of you. They try to take your place and be seen as you.
- If you have already killed your double once, they will be weaker this time around.
- They try to destroy your life in any way possible and replace you in it.
- If they touch you, pain seers through you and your skin begins to rot. Your sense of self deteriorates. If they hold on long enough, you will die.
- Killing your double reverses the effects on your body. When killed, the double will rot into a bloody skeleton.
In Loving Memory
Content warnings: confronting your own death, secret-spilling
During these sandstorms, the graveyard is a balm. It’s quiet and still, no matter how raging the storm outside. The graves are in their usual state of disrepair; the gravedigger can be found sweeping sand off some. The bugs and the doubles seem to keep their distance, making it a real safe haven. The light is gold, and the air is thick and watchful.
If you wander in the graveyard for even a few minutes, you’ll quickly come across a particular grave: your own. Maybe you’ve seen it before, maybe it’s brand-new to you, but either way, it’s a grave, wooden or stone, old and shabby and marked very clearly with your name. If you’ve been in here before, you’ve likely seen it, with just your name and nothing else.
Now it looks a little different.
Here lies, your grave now reads, or perhaps In loving memory of, followed by your name. Beneath that are a few lines of smaller text: an epitaph. Specifically, an epitaph stating, instead of who you are or your greatest accomplishment, something bad that you’ve done in your life. It could be something you regret, or someone that you hurt, or a fact about yourself.
Once you set eyes on your gravestone, you will be compelled to read all of the text aloud to whoever is nearby. The moment you do, a familiar pain will spread through your temples: the associated memory with whatever you just read. Maybe it’s a specific moment in time you regret, or the memory of a person that you hurt, or something to back up whatever the epitaph is telling you.
This is your memory-regain prompt for this month! Interacting with the gravestone is enough to regain you a memory worth up to two points. If you choose to use this regain, it must be on the memory associated with your grave’s epitaph.
tl;dr:
- The graveyard is one of the only safe places in town, and this month it feels like a sanctuary.
- You'll be able to easily find your own grave, which now has an epitaph describing you badly, or something bad you've done.
- You'll be compelled to read this aloud, and it will trigger a memory-regain associated with the words.

Can these tombstones still be broken and if so, can they be broken off and brought back to keep in one's room in the Staywell?
And if so...will they remain after the loop since possessions seemed to largely stay in the room?

ariane yeong | signalis
Your pronouns: she/they
Contact:
OOC limitations: none! but i do have a pretty variable tagging speed, just fyi
Character name: ariane yeong
Permissions: here!
General impressions of your character this month: ariane has regained some strength since she first showed up a couple months ago, but otherwise, her vibe is pretty similar. shy and soft-spoken, until you get to know her, at which point she becomes very affectionate and goofy. small and generally kind of sickly-looking, tends to go out and sketch the desert, the sky, etc. her vibes can seem kind of Off sometimes, but that's probably just the eerie red eyes :)
CR you're interested in: friends, enemies, fellow weirdos, people to be cryptic with, people to be artsy with, anyone!
CR you're not interested in: none atm!
General ideas or plans for the month: one thing i would like to either thread or handwave this month is ariane heading down to the rifts to pick up a spooky book! if this is your jam, lmk and we can plot something out. i'm also still down to tag her dance log, since i got slammed with rl right after i posted it. otherwise, i'll probably focus on event stuff!

If you want the most destructive but also stupidest fight ever, I have this anti-authoritarian psychic-energy powerhouse here. He blows stuff up *real* good but also canonically thinks a good battle strategy is tying someone's shoelaces together, so...
The other prompt ideas also look wonderful! I would love to have Jono get to know some more people better, especially anyone who can appreciate being a cryptic weirdo, so I am easy if you are interested in any things. (If not, they should hang some other time if only to bitch about psychic power body horror.)

Jaune Arc | RWBY
Your pronouns: She/her
Contact:
OOC limitations: None for content, but trying to pace myself more regularly this month
Character name: Jaune Arc
Permissions: Here!
General impressions of your character this month: Jaune is increasingly stressed and exhausted as the month goes on and no solutions for avoiding the looming doom at the end of the cycle present themselves. Still doing little busywork tasks for the NPCs here and there, but mostly checking in on them, and increasingly distressed as they disappear. His already high protectiveness levels are through the roof, and he's overextending himself significantly trying to keep up with the mounting dangers around town. Generally will look and sound like hell.
CR you're interested in: Friends, enemies, people to fuss over, people who might notice Jaune is ~falling apart~
CR you're not interested in: None!
General ideas or plans for the month: Jaune is having a bad time! Although he will have recovered his (busted) sword and shield from the rifts, they are a meagre comfort against existential dread.
Event ideas: Oh boy, terrifying event!
⦾ Jaune is available to help with quicksand, the horrible bugs, doppelgangers, and anything else besetting people this month. In fact, he'll insist on it, very urgently. (This may or may not result in Jaune, in turn, also needing help, but he'll wallow in that quicksand pit when he falls into it.)
⦾ Jaune's double is arrogant, cruel, and ruthless. Jaune will eventually confront and slay his double in one on one combat, but before then, his double is intent on damaging Jaune's reputation and destroying his relationships with malicious glee.
⦾ I'd love to have Jaune visit the graveyard and discover that he has a history of failing to save people in drastic and terrible ways! Maybe Jaune can exchange trauma with someone else of similar issues - or with someone who wasn't saved when they needed to be.

OOC limitations: My work and spare time schedule are weird
Character name: Need
Permissions: wait I gotta actually fill that out huh
General impressions of your character this month: A big, tall old woman with a sword. Watchful, steady, seems to have her shit together, tends to be amused by you children and your energy, not actually immune to rushing in. You may also get the impression that she's irritable but not unkind.
CR you're interested in: idk! I like mentorship and whenever Need gets to caring about someone (this isn't hard), but also some bickering and interrogating of her, her motives, her feelings.
CR you're not interested in: Purely hostile.
General ideas or plans for the month: hmmmmm, her gravestone will most likely require a huge TW relating to suicide, but if anyone's interested it still could be an option?
Event ideas:
I think... look, Need is very OP, so her double can't be omnicidal. What she fears most is becoming passive and that's not much fun either, though no doubt she is for part of this... so, maybe I'll lean on how she acts while asleep. The double is conscious! But displays a lot of sleeping!Need elements.
Do you lack the skills/powers to make a difference in this event? Hey. Don't worry. You're on the side of an angel. (wait...)
Evil Need (Want?) likes to choose characters to empower and work through. A swirl of colorful motes - or a great, indistinct winged shape with great jaws, settles or closes around you and grants you higher speed/strength/etc and maybe grants you fighting skills, heals you, or casts magic on your behalf. And orders you around, imposes anger and intensity on you, and siphons some of your energy. She may also possess your body without warning; you can resist and shake her off but it's a struggle and she may lash you with psychic pain and weird gut-fire rage in response. Having someone else around may help. She's mercurial and will leave as suddenly as she comes on.
What does she want from you? Maybe to fight monsters; whether that's to save you, or someone else, or just for the joy of murder, is unclear and she's not going to tell you. Maybe to dive into quicksand and recover someone. Maybe to fight a double, or even an original? The way she has your body fight definitely involves getting injured on the way, and she doesn't care enough to be painless in healing the damage, if she does, and she may leave you in a bad place. Maybe she just wants to drain your energy for a spell and abandon you, leaving you painfully exhausted. Certainly she condescends to you and calls you something that means, mm, literally "forever-younger sibling" and that is usually reserved for horses and dogs, and does not explain anything.
It's pretty tough to do much to her with regular physical force, and... she can just absorb most hostile magic and use it to power her own magic, though she's not untouchable. Hm. The good thing is she's inclined to recklessness more than regular Need's caution and probably isn't reading everyone's mind all the time.
...she can also do a memoryshare between any two people (or more) but this plate may be crowded enough already. there's a lot more she can do, need's powerset includes renovating architecture, but I have to stop somewhere.
Are you planning to create a log this month? idk!

Shouta Aizawa | My Hero Academia
Your pronouns: they/them
Contact:
OOC limitations: none! I'm trying to find my footing again so please forgive any pacing issues.
Character name: Shouta Aizawa "Eraserhead"
Permissions: tba
General impressions of your character this month: The gremlin in the lobby has been slowly showing his true self under all of the gruffness lately. He's been subtly trolling, but also more fully proving himself to be the teacher that he claims to be.
Also, he's been a firm but kind Dadzawa to people.
CR you're interested in: He is needed people he can actually open up with. Aizawa habitually holds people at a distance because of his own poor self concept, and he's been willing to help carry everyone else's burdens while sharing none of his own. Adult friends and confidants are welcome, and I'm not overly opposed to anything in the romance department.
CR you're not interested in: Needlessly Hostile.
General ideas or plans for the month: Aizawa in general is going to be working on keeping tabs on everyone and working to get people to coordinate with each other instead of anyone going off alone. He really doesn't want to die again.
Event ideas:
1) I would like for Aizawa to make it to the graveyard and have the truth of Eraserhead, the underground Hero smack him in the face. His poor self concept means that this is a great time for his own gravestone to bring him to tears, and this is potentially an excellent time for him to remember his old schoolmates and their plans to open up a small hero agency together... Or, potentially Deku's freak out about the possibility of losing Aizawa. I'm leaning towards the latter but both would be delicious.
2) I actually didn't play out an encounter with his double last time, so this means that Shadow Eraserhead (name pending! I'll take suggestions, but riffing cheesy sci fi or horror is a vibe in this canon!) is angrier and more venomous than before. Aizawa makes his career out of building people up with brick and mortar, dragging them through the dirt so they can get their hands dirty with the muck so that they can see what they're capable of for themselves. Dark Eraser, however, would truly be if Aizawa fell into the cliche of 'villain with villainous powers' and drag people into the grime just to leave them there. Aizawa's tactics heavily rely on psychological tricks, and Dark Eraser will be much the same.
Thank you, Mods, for the Free Goggles. He needed them.

Your pronouns: they/them

OOC limitations: nah.
Character name: Yuri Lowell
Permissions: here
General impressions of your character this month: A Chill Dude TM with long black hair and a deep voice. He carries a sword around, but it dangles from his wrist instead of his hip.
CR you're interested in: Buddies, people for Yuri to care for, people to care for him, people to be silly with.
CR you're not interested in: He's emotionally unavailable for shipping
General ideas or plans for the month:
Yuri's a bit lonely after his break up, so he'll be more present at the diner while it's still open, and open to talking / exploring with people. He's more willing to talk than usual, craving company.
Event ideas:
Storms - Yuri is an unofficial patrol in Wellstone, and will patrol around town to make sure people are okay. As such, he can help people out, or he might need help himself. Particularly interested in him getting caught in quicksand and needing to be saved. Have us a nice Princess Bride moment.
Bugs - Yuri can help make noise! Keep the buggies away! Particularly in weeks 3 and 4 I want him to help (or lead) the effort to keep the bugs away by being obnoxious. If your character is also obnoxious, they can create a band. A terrible, annoying band that will keep you safe!
Doubles - Evil Yuri is back and worse than ever! Spot him at the saloon, drinking himself into a stupor. Run into him around town, and he'll want to fight. Fist fight this guy, he's nasty and fights dirty. He plays being bitter about his and Flynn's break up real well, and will play that up and be rude about Flynn to anyone who will listen.
I'd also like him to try and kill normal Yuri toward the end of the month, and this could end with killing evil Yuri. Normal Yuri is pretty conflicted about killing his other self, so evil Yuri will have to get pretty unhinged and threaten other people before Yuri will off him. If you want your guy to be threatened by evil Yuri, hmu, and it could be a fun culmination where they kill the bad one together.
Graves - Yuri's grave will call him a murderer, and he'll get back his memory of killing Cumore (bad, evil man who had it coming, who Yuri let die in quicksand oop). Would love someone to be there for that who would either be sympathetic (other killers stand up) or horrified by it. Both sound fun to me.

Flynn Scifo | Tales of Vesperia
Your pronouns: they/them
Contact:
OOC limitations: None, and my tagging speed should be a bit higher this month thanks to Book Cocoon™️
Character name: Flynn Scifo
Permissions: right this way
General impressions of your character this month: OH BOY.... the vibes are all over the place. After his very public breakup he's going to be doing his very best to act Totally Fine And Normal, so like, don't even worry about it? Is he staring into space a lot, or talking about Yuri too much? Whatever! It's fine! They all have more important things to worry about, like not letting the town fall apart again, which is going to be very stressful. So, tl;dr, Stressed, Upset, and thumbs-upping his way through it.
CR you're interested in: stressed-out buddies, folks willing to see through the Helpful Knight act to the stressed dog beneath, anyone in need of some very sincere optimism, and honestly in my heart of hearts what I REALLY want is someone for Flynn to temporarily latch onto since he's trying not to do that to Yuri, if that's a complicated situation you're into you lemme know
CR you're not interested in: long-term romance, he does have that covered despite it all
General ideas or plans for the month: Trying his best in increasingly-frantic ways to stop the fate they're all careening toward! This will include fighting off bugs, fortifying the town as much as possible, and desperately searching for answers even in the sandstorm while avoiding his double. Also, avoiding Yuri while keeping a very close eye on Yuri.
Specifically, I know that I chatted with a few folks about post breakup nonsense so if that's you and you're still interested you let me know and I will write a prompt for it!!
Event ideas:
Really interested in having Flynn hear other people's epitaphs! He's a great listener and generally very good at making people feel less alone in their guilt. Good way to start or deepen CR! his own is an option too, but I haven't decided yet what memory to give him back. It sure won't make him feel good, either way!
Would love to handwave Flynn rescuing folks from bugs with his stick of a sword and his healing magic! I know rescue threads can be a lot but if you need a way out of a sticky situation, totally feel free to assume Flynn jumped in and got himself a little beat up. Maybe would be fun to thread out the aftermath of this actually?? Let him heal your character, give me that good h/c
Flynn's double will be back and, thanks to not dying the first time, stronger than ever. We're going full Arrogant Commandant Flynn, who walked the same path as the game's first big bad. He has very little regard for human life, he's an incredibly skilled swordsman with a lot of magic to back him up, and he will be a threat. If anyone's interested in a superpowered showdown, I'd love for Flynn to try and defend someone from his double and do a very bad job. Depending how things go, we can have them retreat OR we can ultimately murder Flynn's double! Totally up to you. Either way, that'll be a thread with a lot of themes about guilt and fear of being corrupted by power so if that's something that you vibe with, hmu
Are you planning to create a log this month? Yes, although I'd like to mostly write closed starters for folks so if you want one, you let me know and I will write something!

CR you're interested in: Everything! I definitely want to continue deepening his current cr while also making some new friends. I want his reputation as ‘the helpful weird science kid’ to continue to grow, though that definitely doesn’t mean people have to like him. I’m all here for having him run into more people who are actively suspicious of him and his powers.
CR you're not interested in: Nothing in particular!
General ideas or plans for the month:
Pal is continuing to experiment with his necromantic powers! In practice this means two things:
- He is continuing to hone his psychometry, and in the process learning bits and pieces about Well’s history, as documented here. While I’m not planning to do a prompt that includes him explicitly talking about it this month, please feel free to hand wave that he has shared this information with your character!
- He is also practicing flesh magic and can now do very basic first aid using necromancy, including healing simple cuts and bruises and taking vital signs. Any injury or medical test that would take more than some gauze or a stethoscope is still beyond him. Again, feel free to hand wave that he helped you out of a scrape (*ba dum*)
Event ideas:
- Pal will recognize the storm and will join in to any and all efforts to barricade the Staywell. He will also be obsessively looking for any and all clues regarding how they might escape or stop the storm from destroying the town. Need an exploration buddy or want to rescue someone? He’s your guy!
- Gimme your epitaphs! Pal’s will read as follows:
Here Lies The Disintegrated Remains of Palamedes Sextus, Master Warden of the Library
One Body Wasn’t Enough
...and it will be paired with an extremely traumatic memory. (Full credit to Floral for this idea!)
- Doublemedes will be creeping around like a creepy creeper doing creepy things. Because Pal killed him last time, he will be somewhat diminished in power, but still unsettling af and kind of a dick. I’m not planning any prompts for him, but if anyone wants to confront him hmu.
Are you planning to create a log this month? Probably not, unless it would be helpful for me to write some private prompts! My main focus will be tagging other people.

Ruby Rose | RWBY
Ruby's around to help out or get some help from bugs. She's got a pistol that's pretty loud and knows how to use it to either repel or kill them.
Might have her accidentally start working out her semblance in here too. If there's need of a speedy escape.
Also available if anyone wants to help her out of a bug attack.
In Loving Memory
Ruby's memory is probably going to involve the fall of Atlas. And basically framing it as though it was because of her that an entire kingdom fell out of the sky and crumbled. I'm sure that'll be great for her self esteem.
Double Trouble
Ruby's double is going to be obviously corrupted by some evil black oozie juice. (Not the grimace shake. Or is it?) She'll be teaming up with Emerald's double and succeeding in replacing Ruby via kidnapping off the bat.
Very violent and more like an intensified version of how Ruby's already been behaving in game. The actual bad end instead of depression jerky behaviour.
The storm.
Up for quicksand relating shenanigans including rescuing, maybe dying, or helping out in general. Sounds like a fun time.

Emerald Sustrai | RWBY
Your pronouns: she/they
Contact: DM this journal or find me in the game discord as samielherbei
OOC limitations: would prefer limited skin burrowing but otherwise everything is on the table
Character name: Emerald Sustrai
Permissions: https://hallucinogem.dreamwidth.org/2682.html#cutid1
General impressions of your character this month: Em tries her best to be a chill person who doesn't let a lot of things faze her. She'll be heading down into the rifts while they're still there, but the weird sandstorm is probably going to be the first thing that freaks her out. If anyone happens to catch her at the graveyard, they'll know something worse about her that will definitely shatter any façade of being chill and cool.
CR you're interested in: Looking for more friends to cast her social net a little wider. Also looking for enemies because I've got some Plans for these doppelgängers.
CR you're not interested in: N/A
General ideas or plans for the month: Em's gonna be going on a bit of an emotional journey now that she's had some time to get her summer fun in. I'm expecting some inner turmoil as she grapples with the idea that she's not exactly the best person in the world—and that the looming fears in her memory might not be the only thing she needs to worry about.
Event ideas: So! For those unfamiliar with RWBY, there's this war criminal named Cinder Fall who's basically been trying to groom Emerald to be the perfect little sycophant through constant emotional manipulation and playing on how badly Emerald wants to be in love with her. Emerald's double is going to be a version of her where she's fully adopted all of Cinder's worst aspects. She'll be conniving, petty, vindictive, and single-mindedly ready to make anyone who wrongs her pay, all while talking pseudo-diplomatic sweetness from the other side of her mouth.
Anyway, cinder!Emerald is going to be kidnapping regular Emerald and locking her up somewhere, then teaming up with Ruby's double to wreak some havoc. The way this Emerald will operate is to take any flash of goodness in Em's life and strategically burn it down, which is another reason that she's leaving Emerald alive. If you matter to her or if you have the potential to matter to her, you're a target.
Before all of this happens, though, Emerald will be visiting the graveyard, and her epitaph will read something about how she killed Penny Polendina. (In reality it's more complicated than that, but the narrative blames her and she blames herself, so I'm rolling with it.) She had no idea she was capable of this and had zero context for anything even surrounding this memory, so she's going to cope with this poorly. Honestly, if she copes poorly enough she might end up accidentally unleashing her hallucination powers (like she did at the end of volume 5, when a massive emotional shock caused her to manifest an illusory version of the big bad of the series without her willing it to happen)—if she does, it'll be fast and frightening and she won't know she's doing it.
Are you planning to create a log this month? In all likelihood yes, for at least some of this.

Darin Altway | Original Character
Your pronouns: He/Him
Contact:
OOC limitations: None particularly
Character name: Darin Altway
Permissions: Here!
General impressions of your character this month: Big beefy shounen/JRPG style protagonist who likes to help people and will do his best to take charge even though he thinks he's poorly suited for the job. He's going to do his best to keep morale up.
CR you're interested in: Anything, give it to me baby
CR you're not interested in: Nah I'm pretty much open to anything
General ideas or plans for the month: Darin, much like everyone else, has seen the writing on the wall and has been making preparations for months. He's worked a little on a map of the rifts that formed. It's not perfect but it'll give him an idea of proximity and he will happily share it. Aside from that, if you need someone to board up your windows or fix anything, he's your man. He'll do it happily and would love to lend an ear if you need to vent.
Event ideas: - He's gonna go out and try to make sure no one falls into those quicksand traps
- Probably going to make some runs around town to the various NPCs
- ABSOLUTELY want him to see his grave. Anyone want to know his big demonic secret? You'll want to be there for that.
- He's gonna yell at some bugs so loud they die. His time has come.
- He never killed his doppelganger which means its out for vengeance. Any CR who wants to be hunted by him, I am open to this! But I also think this is gonna culminate in a massive assault on the Staywell because his double will want to literally tear down everything Darin wants to protect. Darin can't handle him alone BUT if anyone wants to help him, they could put him down once and for all. He might die in the process. I don't know, I'm playing that one by ear since Darin hasn't really regained much. Anyway, I'm up for plotting! Give me some of your ideas!
Are you planning to create a log this month? More than likely!
