THE WELLSTONE CARDGAMES TOURNAMENT
Hello, residents of Wellstone! It is time to decide who, in a definitely objective and unbiased manner, is the best at card games! Via a tournament put on by the Wellstone Games Club, consisting of Keiichi, Alec, Dax, Olympia, and Satoko!
The tournament will take place at the lobby of the Staywell. The rules are as follows:
The timeline for the tournament will look something like this (based on an assumed turnout of 16 characters):

- A match will be composed of two participants.
- The two players will decide what cardgame to play between the two of them.
- There are no draws; games are played until a clear winner can be deduced.
- Powers are completely fair game.

9/14 | Round One | The log for the tournament goes up. If you don’t have an opponent and game by this point, you will be assigned one by RNG.
11:59PM PT on the 15th is the deadline to sign up. If you OOC agree on a winner, please comment confirming the winner by 11:59PM PT on the 16th.
9/17 | Round Two | If you didn’t declare a winner, the match result will be RNG’d. Winners move onto the next round, and the above process is repeated. Please state if you have an opponent and game in mind by 11:59PM PT on the 18th.
9/19 | Round Two | If you didn’t claim an opponent and game, you will be assigned one by RNG. If you OOC agree on a winner, please comment confirming the winner by 11:59PM PT on the 20th.
9/21 | Round Three | If you didn’t declare a winner, the match result will be RNG’d. Winners move onto the next round, and the above process is repeated. Please state if you have an opponent and game in mind by 11:59PM PT on the 22nd.
9/23 | Round Three | If you didn’t claim an opponent and game, you will be assigned one by RNG. If you OOC agree on a winner, please comment confirming the winner by 11:59PM PT on the 24th.
9/25 | Final Match | As above, basically.

Skill level: Dax is very good at cards and and spotting other people's gambling tells.
Cheating: Dax will not cheat outright (though things like counting cards, she doesn't consider cheating and will do), but if anyone cheats via sleight of hand, she will definitely catch them. She's good at that too!

Skill level: Ariane is decent at card games, but not an all-star. She has experience playing them to kill time, but doesn't tend to play them competitively.
Cheating: Ariane will not cheat, but she will pretend that her bioresonance gives her an advantage. It doesn't. That's a bluff.

Skill level: Impeccable poker face, zero patience or ability to remember the rules. Alec is on the lower tier of card game skill.
Cheating: Alec will cheat via making his opponent drop their cards so he can take a look at them. He will be incredibly offended if anyone calls this out. Not every twitch or fumble is his fault, and it's insulting to think that. For shame.

Skill level: Decent at games (although he has no memories attached to it, but he'll be inherently okay at it). Only experienced at informal play.
Cheating: He's willing to stretch the rules, to distract, tease, or otherwise confuse or distract the other player. He has no skill at actually cheating, but he has a lot of skill at being annoying.

Skill level: She's very practiced in these kinds of games, and in bamboozling her opponents with clever tricks and traps, so it's like a muscle memory to her.
Cheating: Yes. In so many ways. She has already started preparing her cheating and the tournament hasn't even been announced that's how much she's going to cheat at this tournament. Satoko with prep time is unstoppable.

Skill level: Olympia is decidedly Average at card games. She's definitely not bad, but she's certainly not a world championships player either. This girl is a lot smarter than she seems though, and she might pick up on small things during the game. On the downside, it's also very easy to distract or fluster her, and probably even easier to cheat right in front of her, so using any of that will majorly throw her off.
Cheating: Olympia won't cheat, but if it looks like she's losing, she will start to look more and more like a pathetic sad little puppy with each passing moment. She might even mention that she's going to get punished if she doesn't win. This isn't even her trying to gain sympathy on purpose, it's just her natural pathetic little meow meow-ness.. Could you really harden your heart enough to make this girl lose?

Skill level: Keiichi is pretty good at card games, but he isn't great. Terror of the local poker club, but nothing further. If he starts losing his nerve, it will show very apparently on his face, with his tells being his major weakness in general.
Cheating: Keiichi has taken advantage of his position as an organizer of the event to mark all of the decks that are used to play, barely noticeable scratches on the back. He'll definitely know his opponent's hand each round, but him glaring holes at the back of the cards might be noticeable.

Skill level: Well, she's learned blackjack
and card countingfrom Palamedes! Cam isn't very familiar with Earth Card Games, so in that sense, not exactly a card sharp. (She can do some fun card-istry/shuffle flourishes etc.) She is canonically extremely fast at picking up things she doesn't know, particularly things with rules/specific 'how to', so she could be taught things like poker or spades or whatever pretty easily. She's also detail-oriented and a sharp interrogator of what seems to be, which are things that just being in this freaky environment has turned up to high. So in that regard...likely to do well. (The muted affect doesn't hurt.)Cheating: No; she'd rather prove her skill (at strategy), though she'd be very pleased with herself if she could beat someone who was trying to cheat. That said, she doesn't know that card counting would be considered by some to be a form of cheating, since it's just statistics (and can be flubbed like any other strategy), and also, that's how she was taught. THANKS PAL.

dax knows basic children's games, so she'd probably suggest something like eights (and the idea of them basically playing uno is pretty funny). she'd default to going easy on him because despite the games club nonsense she'd be in it for the fun, but if she notices him try to make her drop anything, she will try to Annihilate Him
