Staywell Fortifications

Okay y'all.

Sorry this took a million years to get up, May has not been especially kind to me in the free time department.

ANYWAY, Darin has made the announcement that he's going to try and reinforce the Staywell again. He's asking for any and all hands that are willing to work to spend the rest of the loop really battening down the hatches so to speak. He's spent all of May knocking down trees from the dead forest to use as resources and with his transmutation powers he can mold a lot of things. The goal is to fortify the Staywell both inside and out.

Fortify the roof and any points of entry like doorways and windows, create walkways around the grounds, erect walls and palisades to keep any third month visitors from swarming.

He's going to want anyone who knows anything about defense to help him decide where these things should go like it's a tower defense game.

If you want to see his theories on all of this, the walkie talkie post can be found here.

That said, there's also the graveyard and the cistern so if physical labor isn't your bag, Team Cecelia will be wanting to go into the Graveyard to check things out.

End goal? Darin thinks the Staywell is inextricably linked to the nature of the world. The better off it is, the better off the world is.

So comment here with things your character can and will do so there's a full list of things being done so I can take it to the mods for month three of the loop!

Light spent much of May working on putting up palisades, but would have switched to Team Cistern/Graveyard whenever the cistern was found again on the grounds that he'd be more useful there, since he helped Darin map the cistern last cycle and would be best positioned to spot any changes. (Also, physical labor sucks. He wouldn't admit that, though.)

He would also have asked Darin to save any sawdust from the tree-pummeling for him for purposes of surfacing a tennis court and/or sparring arena once he has enough of it, since desert sand isn't a great surface for footwork.

I mentioned to someone else that Ruby and Emerald had dug down into the cistern from the graveyard before. So they'd know to try to see if it works again!

Outside of that Ruby would be down for helping out with bolstering defenses, but she is currently lacking any of her canon knowledge on how to do it.

Sokta is an asshole, but if something is being done to fortify the town, he will pitch in.

Once India has more memories, she would be intrigued by the theory about the surroundings having an impact. Since her 'adventure' very much involved some kind of cursed-spirit-whatever-they-don't-know attached to the surroundings just taking over all the family summer homes.

Jaune is up to help Darin to the best of his abilities with the things Darin taught him last time and his unflagging cheerfulness about hauling as many heavy objects need to be hauled that Darin isn't hauling personally!

He's also good at generating worst case scenarios, so he can contribute something to the planning of placement. Especially when it comes to attacks from above. Birds...

Reiterating here in case that makes it easier for you!

Min-Gi will be learning basic carpentry from Darin so he can help out. He could also help with hauling wood back to the Staywell, or other menial tasks like tidying up.

Urushihara isn't good for much-- he's small, has noodle arms, and gets motion sick. But, he did offer to help Darin with keeping people properly hydrated while everyone works on this mad plan.

Obviously, this means he's going to be looped into other tasks because of his Chronic Inability To Say No. If anyone needs an anxious go-fer, Luci is here.

Olympia believes in Darin's ideas about all of this so much that she'll definitely want to help out with the fortifications! She's not the strongest person around, but she also definitely won't complain about doing some physical labour! So as long as someone is giving her instructions, she will gladly help out with the fortifications themselves. c:
