OOC info
Wowwee, did you just think that? Oh, you might want to keep that inside. No, more inside. Thoughts are dangerous this month two!
There will be no event post on the main comm. Instead, make your own logs to include these prompts, and any other prompts you want to add. There will be a mini-event log mid-month. There are no memory points in this event, but there will be in the mini-event!
Use the happenings form to report on what your character’s been up to!
Post any bulletins to the bulletin board and bother your fellow guests with your walkie-talkies!
Fill out as much or as little of this form as you like:
New this month
At the Staywell
The dining hall has the usual meals every day: a nice, continental breakfast, sandwiches for lunch, and steaming hot corn soup for dinner, extra-spicy.Throughout the month, new books appear on shelves in the hotel lounge:
Thought Crimes: Even If You Only Think It, It's Wrong
Surreal Love: His Face Is On His Knee and I Love Him
Static Souls: Love on the Same Frequency
Six Inches To The Left: Rethinking Your Physical Space
HEART
HEART is particularly incomprehensible this month, written in a language no one here seems to be able to understand. Thought Crimes details how you must be accountable to every thought you have in your mind, and you might even start to believe it as you read until you remember that that's bullshit!
The pool is full and the sides are weirdly squishy. Kind of bouncy. And fun!
The General Store
The General Store's stock—though somewhat scattered throughout town, as outlined below— is a strange mix of everything that you've ever been able to "purchase" there, with fairy figurines, tiny cowboy hats, alien themed stationary, and so much more!Around town
The diner’s special for the month: loaded nachos! What they're loaded with change every time, sometimes it's good standards and sometimes they're covered in strawberry jam! When you visit the few other locations in town, you’ll find the employees friendly and welcoming, although they may say some strange things, in addition to the handful of phrases they usually say:
The receptionist: Stationed behind the Cactus Pad's bar, which is in the lobby of the Staywell, and will also say, "Why not take a dip in the pool? It's awfully hot."
Owner of the General Store: Can be found in the Chrono room of the bathhouse, looking damp, and will also say: "Got a special sale on this month! Clearing house! You just shoot any questions my way, you hear?"
The bartender: Is in the Stardust diner behind the counter, and will also say, "Never liked the sweeter drinks myself, but here." Her cocktails this month are... bad, because she's using Stardust ingredients like ketchup and pie.
The waiter: Trying to take orders in the General Store. Smiles chirpily and says, "I just love this time of year! Perfect for ice cream."
The gravedigger: She's still digging, but now she's in the Cactus Pad, stabbing uselessly at the wooden floor with her shovel. By the end of the month she will have dug a very bad hole.
The sheriff: Out in the graveyard, offering towels to anyone who comes near a grave.
The catacombs
The catacombs are cool, dark, and full of whispers. The wall with the crack has opened, thanks to everyone's efforts, into a cramped tunnel that needs to be further excavated. The "stone" is strangely fleshy, and gets fleshier the further you excavate. On the Airwaves
Content warnings: forced honesty
This month, the very walls seem to be alive, but that's nothing new. It's happened before, after all: the town loves to mock and observe in public ways. What's a little ever-present whispering? You can't understand any of it, but murmurs drift from corners and shadows at all hours of the day and night, creeping softly along your skin. The town is thick with voices.
Unfortunately, it isn't just the walls.
Your own thoughts have turned on you, too. Things that you were sure you kept to yourself—comments, worries, cool one-liners and confessions alike—sound out loud in the air around you for everyone to hear. They're not shouts or whispers: they're said just the way you said them in your head, only distinctly less private. It's not every passing thought, but enough of them seem to be broadcasted to be uncomfortable! You're not saying them, but that sure is your voice in the air.
Of course, that's just if you aren't near a walkie-talkie. If you are near a walkie, even if it's not yours, there's a strong chance that whatever thought you just had may end up being broadcast into the town-wide network for more than just the people around you to hear. Better be careful!
And sometimes, strangely, your thoughts can end up on the bulletin board. You didn't write them, but there they are!
tl;dr:

- The walls are talking again, strange indistinct murmurs.
- You're talking too--sort of. Your thoughts are broadcast out loud without you saying them.
- Your thoughts can also end up on the network or the bulletin board.
A Little Squishy
Content warnings: N/A
The voices aren't the only weird thing about Wellstone this month. Actually, all of Wellstone itself seems like it's been… scrambled?
The Cactus Pad's large wooden bar is in the lobby, and the receptionist seems to have taken up residence behind it, though he isn't making drinks or saying anything outside of his usual fare. The Staywell's dining room is empty of chairs and tables: those, it turns out, are clustered in their usual formation in a bare patch of town street about two buildings down from the hotel itself.
The General store is full of booths from the diner and no tables to speak of, although the waiter is there trying valiantly to take orders, the Cactus Pad has tables but no chairs (or bar). You might find some of the General Store's usual stock in your room, or a stool from the Cactus Pad in your bathroom. The jukebox from the Stardust is in the middle of the hotel courtyard, and plays music constantly at absurd volumes. The mechanical bull is in the middle of the bathhouse, perched on the edge the larger public bath. Absolutely everything that has been moved is a weird texture: squishy and strange to the touch, a little shiny. There is a strange coppery iron-like scent in the air around them, and anyone with the senses to pick up on it will notice that everything that moved seems to be brand-new.
The changes aren't limited to what's listed here: odds and ends from the buildings around town are fair game to have ended up more or less anywhere, be that in character rooms or the middle of the desert. NPC location changes have been noted above, but almost no one is in their correct place.

Questions?
Min-Gi Park
Your pronouns: He/Him
Contact:
Character name: Min-Gi Park
General ideas or plans for the month: Mostly just returning him to his typical routine. He'll be around the bathhouse, reading wherever the comfy furniture has ended up, and renewing his attempts to improve with his sword.
Event ideas:
Min-Gi isn't likely to be carrying his radio outside the early part of the month, and will be checking the bulletin board regularly to try and take any of his own thoughts down before they get too much of an audience. I definitely want the opportunity for his efforts to fail though. Maybe especially with some of his less polite thoughts he wouldn't voice to the majority of the others.
Are you planning to create a log this month? Y
Bonus Request: I arguably should've put in a hiatus last month. I had two major presentations to put together/present on top of the day job and so just... did not do anything. Handwaving would be appreciated to help me get back into things! I'm going to say the heat contributed to him not being around too much, but it would be good to have a couple of things so I don't have to say he vanished into the void completely.
Between the heat and the eyes he was probably more irritable than usual and when he was out spent some time in the catacombs to try and get away from both those things, though he is trying to avoid the crack. He thinks that should be left well alone. It would also be fun if he'd had the opportunity to see at least one of the special memories.
Min-Gi's keychain read Min-Ji. He's unsure why this bothered him to the extent it did.

i'm totally okay with handwaving that these two talked last month, maybe commiserating because olympia also was not doing that well after how upset she got at the end of the previous cycle..
if you're putting up a log this month, i'll totally hit that up too! c: if you'd like to do anything specific with them, lmk, else i'll just hit up a random prompt on your log!

I would definitely be down for some handwaved commiseration. I put a log up last night, but if the prompts don't work or you want something specific I'd be more than happy to figure out a closed thread for you.

Darin Altway
Your pronouns: He/Him
Contact:
Character name: Darin Altway
General ideas or plans for the month: So I've been struggling with stagnation these last couple of months and I would like to change that. Darin will be working with Cecelia on potentially restoring some of the town based on an old map she and Diluc found. I'd love to have him have some talks in regards to his development as a leader in the town. He's having trouble seeing what other people see in him and I'd like to have some more meaningful conversations in that vein.
Event ideas: As for blurting out his internal thoughts...well, this is Darin. He's going to be blurting them out regardless so I doubt any one will notice anything different!
Are you planning to create a log this month? CERTAINLY GONNA TRY

Palamedes Sextus
Your pronouns: she/her
Contact:
Character name: Palamedes Sextus
General ideas or plans for the month: Pal is continuing his ‘dedicating every moment to solving Wellstone’s mysteries and pretending he isn’t an emotional wreck’ vibe! Too bad Wellstone has other plans for him. Aside from dealing with the related humiliation, I think I want him to do some catacombs exploring. Gotta do some thinking in that regard, so I’m open to plotting ideas!
Event ideas:
On the Airwaves: Yeeahhhh, everyone gets to hear Pal’s inner fears and anxieties! Pal will be projecting thoughts along the lines of What if we can’t leave? What if we all die permanently? I can’t let that happen on my watch. I can’t fail them all again. He spends a lot of time around walkie-talkies, so undoubtably some of his thoughts will be broadcast far and wide. He will be deeply humiliated and will try very, very hard to pretend he isn’t—but, inevitably, his humiliation will be broadcast, too. Rinse and repeat.
Squishy: No particular thoughts here, but I am deeply charmed by the whole “nothing is in the right place” thing, so I’m excited to use it for flavor and general shenanigans.
Are you planning to create a log this month? At the very least I’m planning a network post for Pal’s broadcast woes. Maybe also something in the main comm, we'll see!

Do you still want to play out the first lesson, or would you prefer to handwave at this point? I'm okay with either!
