Well, it depends entirely on how far across the fissure is. Darin does have super strength so he could attempt to jump it, but with the winds, that would probably send him off course and into the fissure.

Could he potentially braid and tie a bunch of linens from the hotel together into a long enough rope, then tie one end to some metal he would twist into a grappling hook? With his strength, he could throw it across the fissure and try and hook it into one of the broken windows before anchoring it on his side of the fissure.

If he gets far enough to the well, I don't think he'd chicken out at the finish line. He'd secure the rope around himself if possible and try to see if he could make his way down, at least a little bit.
