3.1 Event Plotting
OOC announcements
Welcome to Cycle 3! The town of Wellstone is reset to how it was in February: all damage is gone and the town is back. Anything that wasn't on your characters' person or in their hotel room is gone. The town is back to normal—sort of. It’s a little worse than normal. Read on for more info.There will be no event post on the main comm. Instead, make your own logs to include these prompts, and any other prompts you want to add. There will be a mini-event log mid-month.
Use the damage report form if your character damages or makes permanent changes to anything. Damage and change is permanent for the cycle.
Post any bulletins to the bulletin board.
New this month
The weather
The weather has turned for the worse: it’s dry, bone dry. Your skin feels chapped the moment you step outside. There are no clouds in the sky, and dust rolls across the desert. The ground is cracked under your feet.
Wildlife is even more sparse than usual. The cacti look thin and thirsty. Hares, snakes, and coyotes are gone. Lizards scurry from shadow to shadow, and insects crowd onto any healthy-looking plant.
At the hotel
The dining hall features one long table and the same meals every day: a nice, continental breakfast, sandwiches for lunch, and a roast for dinner.
If you want to go for a swim, this month you’ll find an “Out of Order” sign on the door. Inside, the pool is bone dry.
Water in general is a little harder to come by: The taps don’t run for as long as you’d like. Showers will be shorter, as the water will run out after around 7.5 minutes. Don’t even try taking a bath, that tub won’t fill up.
The General Store
The General Store looks a little different this month. Where before were cowboy hats, lassos, and cactis, there is now: Outer space. You can find stationary with stars on it, candles shaped like planets, slime with alien-shaped charms in it, plastic astronaut helmets, whatever your heart desires as long as it’s useless, novelty, and space-themed.
The General Store is also back to running its sale on walkie talkies. These two-way radios work within about the distance of 50 ft. You can share secrets with a friend!
Around town
The diner’s special for the month: Doppin’ Dits! You know it, you love it: little hard pellets of ice cream that melt way faster than you want them to. It’s the ice cream of the future!
The jail is back to an abandoned shack. The sheriff is nowhere to be found.
When you visit the few other locations in town, you’ll find the employees friendly and welcoming, although they may say some strange things, in addition to the handful of phrases they usually say:
The receptionist: “It’s good to see such a lively crop this month!”
And: “Be careful, drought like this last a while. We take water rationing very seriously here at the Staywell.”
Owner of the General Store: “Hope you staywell outta the graveyard, you hear me?”
The bartender: “Don’t be expectin’ any free drinks.”
The waiter: “Oh, I’m so excited you’re here! Here, on the house.” He serves you a milkshake in your favorite flavor.
The gravedigger: She watches you ominously.
GLITCHES

Things this month just… disappear. Were you drinking a glass of water? Suddenly it’s gone from your hand, and appears in someone else’s. Were you having a nice nap? You and your bed may wake up in the middle of the courtyard. Did you have a favorite shirt? It’s missing, and you swear you put it back in the closet! You might find a cactus wearing it. You might not find it at all.
Sometimes, when you do find the thing you’ve lost, they’ve… changed. Nothing big, of course. Maybe the pattern on the shirt is a little different, or the pages in your book are out of order. It doesn’t happen all the time, but it’s definitely noticeable.

Not just any lightning: strange balls of lightning float through town, indoors and out. They’re big, fast, and hard to avoid. If you’re hit, a strange, intense tingle runs through your body, making all your hair stand on end. It doesn’t hurt, exactly, but it isn’t pleasant either. It lasts anywhere from a few seconds to a minute, and then it passes.
Except you’re not like you were before. Something about you is different, changed by the lightning: perhaps you’re suddenly tiny, or huge; you may have sprouted animal ears and tails; was your hair green before? Now it is!
The effects stay until you’re struck by lightning again: if you’re struck again, you can either remove the effect, or gain a new one (or both!).

- Everyone will be back to normal by the end of the month.

When you look into a crack, you see something strange: a memory, yours or someone else’s. It’s brief, a sliver of a life, and then it’s gone. It’s hard to make out and harder to understand.
If you step through a crack, or fall into one, suddenly you are in that memory: you’re seeing a snippet of someone’s life, a brief moment that impacted them greatly: something beautiful, or horrible, some pivotal moment, or something meaningful. It may mean nothing to you, but if the person who’s memory it is also finds themself there, having come through the same crack, or a different one, they will find themself moved by the memory, moved enough to talk about it, even if they never have before.

- You can regain up to 3 memory points with this prompt, either from one major memory or several minor ones.

General impressions of your character: Alec is in an upswing mood, which manifests as him being very slightly perkier and more annoying than his baseline of 'disaffected edgy teen'. He's favouring the casual side of his wardrobe, so expect to see him in big, comfortable white ponchos and dark denim jeans tucked into reasonably durable (still rhinestoned) black boots. He's sporting black nail polish on every nail but the middle ones, which are purple, and it's generally chipped and picked at.
CR you're interested in: A lot! Alec is available for weird teen friendship, schemes and shenanigans, ethical debates, being grabbed by the scruff and lightly shaken, and anything else that seems interesting. I'd like to use this month to build some initial positive-to-neutral connections for him, but I'm not opposed to some negativity/irritation in the mix.

Glitches - Yuri's stuff is going to continuously come back wrong, in a way that he's going to think is purposefully to fuck with him. The liquid in his cups keeps turning to blood. Eyes keep appearing on his clothes. His sword edge keeps changing (blunt, serrated, wobbly). He's pissed that he keeps losing his sword so if you want to find it pls do.
UAP - Yuri is also going to be continuously tormented by lightning. He's going to:

Eventually it will all poof, but he can have some/all of that throughout the month. Please come help a tiny, angry little clown catboy.
Cracks - Most of Yuri's memories are going to surround his Mystery Boy (Flynn), but Flynn will not be apparent in these memories, and instead be a boy with a static face. Memories to choose from:
- Young boys sword fighting with wooden swords
- Young boys watching the stars together
- Young boys making a promise to each other to make the world a better place
- Teens on their first mission in the knights

keiichi is going to be, more than anything else in this situation, bored out of his mind. on that note, he's going to be trying to put together a games club!! which will mostly be card games and board games, and whatever else he can scrounge from the depths of his memory, open to suggestions.
he'll have a preference towards inviting people his own age (so, any 14-to-18 year olds in wellstone. watch out.) to the whole thing, but if push absolutely comes to shove he will approach the vast array of goofy adults. nobody is truly safe.

Glitches: honestly, nothing in particular here, it'll just be in the background for everything else. Keiichi is going to be... remarkably unbothered by it all, until he gets some doppin' dits falling on his head.
UAP: keiichi is going to get hit with it and be given blond hair and red eyes, and he isn't really going to get it. he might also get hit with other things if i can think of anything funny, but there are no plans in motion
Cracking: i'd love to share some memories!! keiichi has CRAU from a murdergame and will be remembering an incredibly messy execution that he enacted (major memory, 2pts) and he will also remember winning a curry competition with rice balls (minor memory, 1pt) so if anyone has any interest in either of those... id also love to have him peep some other people's memories!

General impressions of your character: This man is Lorge. He's built like a brick wall, but doesn't always seem aware of it. He's somehow extremely soft-spoken despite how tall and broad he is. Probably going to give him wings, not going to lie. He deserves to learn how to fly again, right? If anyone wants to witness some epic crashes into tumbleweeds. Again, leaning into humor for this one for the most part.

General ideas or plans for the month: SO, Darin has an idea. A big idea. He's going to be spending the next THREE MONTHS using whatever resources he can get his hands on to attempt to reinforce the Staywell to prevent it from collapsing at the end of the loop. ANYONE WHO WANTS TO HELP can absolutely do so. I plan on making a bulletin board post about it ICly in the next day or so and if there's interest, I can throw up an OOC post to get ducks in a row and whatnot. He has no idea if this will work but hey, it's worth a shot!
Event ideas: GLITCHES: Honestly no concrete plans as I'll just roll with whatever. If it's funny, I'm doing it. Anything from tools going missing and reappearing sticking out of a wall Bethesda Style or just straight up have his pants go missing. If it makes people chuckle, I'm gonna do it, especially if it makes me chuckle. If you want a part of this absolute stupidity, then let's do a thing.
UNIDENTIFIED AERIAL PHENOMENA: I've got some random ideas here from having Daring grow a blue, golden retriever tail to having him get big old elf ears. Again, I'm here to go with the flow and do whatever is the most funny. I'm even open to suggestions here, really. You want something specific for your character to bounce off of? I'm your dude. As long as it's fun I've got no reservations.
CRACKING: HEY WHO WANTS SOME SAD MEMORIES WITH THIS HAPPY-GO-LUCKY IDIOT. I'll have prompts for memories of the people of his hometown blaming him for the deaths of his family and calling him a monster and a mistake and the doozy: the memory of when his dad and brother were killed by demons. General ideas or plans for the month: Gonna start laying the groundwork for something towards the end of the cycle, so she'll definitely be spending some time trying to strengthen existing friendships. If there's anyone she needs to apologize to for stuff her double did, too, then she'd love to do it once they, uh, tell her what happened.
Event ideas: Em's gonna swap hair and eye colors with Ruby, so she'll have black hair and silver eyes for the better part of the month. She'll also have cat ears and a tail for a little bit, so hey, RWBYs, if anyone wants to deal with a black-haired cat Faunus, here we are.
For memories, I had a couple that I was kicking around. I'm at work now so I can't grab clips easily, but there was a fight between Emerald and her best friend Mercury where Merc basically tore into Em for having mommy issues over their mutual boss, Cinder Fall. There's another memory of a fight where Cinder was straight up getting her ass handed to her by the android that Em remembers killing (don't worry about it) and Emerald effectively saved Cinder's life by jumping in front of her and crying until Penny felt enough sympathy to let her go. Both of these could be extremely fun ways to fill in the gaps that Em has about Cinder, who she currently thinks was the best person in the world, and I welcome other people learning about her as well.

General impressions of your character: Scrawny nerd kid with magical powers! Awkward but friendly! Always writing in a notebook! He tends to wear fairly unassuming cowboy clothes (jeans, flannel shirt, hat, boots) in neutral colors.

I want his reputation as ‘the helpful weird science kid’ to continue to grow, though that definitely doesn’t mean people have to like him. Hi hello have you met my friend Cam???
Palamedes cavalier/sworn sword/soul mate/better half/VIP is here and he is so excited. Do you chat with Pal on the regular? He will be talking about Camilla incessantly and will probably want to introduce you. Both he and Cam remember their significance to one another, though neither of them has enough memories to fully flesh out what their relationship is–as a result, Pal is going to basically be a big ball of undirected, excited, anxious joy.
Desert funtimes
Pal is going to appear in the desert at the start of the cycle and crawl back, which will be (not) a good time in and of itself. Above and beyond that, he is going to be very concerned by the fact that both current folks and newcomers are appearing lost out in the desert and will want to suggest sending out a few search parties during the first week of the month to make sure no one is lost out there. Happy to have this be a handwave thing or play it out. I’ll probably have him do a bulletin board post.
Spaaaace
Hell yes, new stationary! Pal is going to be collecting so many cute space-themed notebooks and novelty pens from the general store. At least one notebook will have an image like this. They will both make him feel things, though he won’t be sure why.
Also, while he doesn’t remember the details, he does know that he grew up in space, so that might casually come up in conversation!

Glitches
Do you have an object that has glitched?? Bring it to the magical object specialist, aka Palamedes Sextus! Pal is going to want to examine the hell out of any and every glitched item, and will be begging everyone to let him. May do a bulletin board post for this, too.
Additionally, way back in Cycle 1, Horatio Hornblower taught Pal to count cards. Pal has now reinvented Blackjack and wants to kick your ass. The only problem is…the cards keep changing? Cue hilarity and confusion.

OH HELL YES. Pal will spend most of the month with brown eyes that bear a striking resemblance to Cam’s. Even more noticeably, he will not require glasses. This will freak him the fuck out but he won’t really be sure why.

Ooo, itty-bitty memories! I have a whole slew of ideas, happy to pursue any that folks are interested in. Come experience one of the following wholesome activities:
- Examining a dead body in a makeshift morgue
- Trying (and failing) to teach Nona necromancy
- Trying (and succeeding) to get Nona to eat breakfast
- Pal and Cam as kiddos, probably studying for a psychometry exam
- Walking into a mysterious laboratory containing a bunch of tetchy necromancers, a dead boy band reject, and "YOU LIED TO US" written across one wall.

General impressions of your character: Tall, athletic, friendly, and helpful. She's focused and attentive without being overly dismissive, and confident without being arrogant. She has a classic and practical wardrobe with lots of red and a some gold for accents.

General ideas or plans for the month: Pyrrha has just arrived, so she'll be mostly focused on exploring the town and making sure she understands the layout. She's also aware that she has combat ability, so she'll be putting some effort into trying to acquire some manner of weapon (not that she'll have any luck).
Event ideas: Since Pyrrha just arrived, I'm most interested in having her see other people's memories then jumping right into any additional ones of her own! That said, she has a strong sense of persona duty, which includes supporting people within her community! So she'll be a good candidate for talking people through anything difficult they might witness.

General impressions of your character: Personality wise? Glitch is going to give off a very quiet, introverted and blank like self. He's basically having to sort of rebuild a personality since he's left with no memories outside of one that happened in Deerington where he died. He'll have a little snark but he's definitely not going to be rude to anyone off the bat (for those who are familiar with him).
Clothing wise? He's going to be coming in wearing This ensemble, minus the ascot.
I'll have a drawing of it later, but think black, grey, and blue accents in places. He's probably carrying a satchel too.

General impressions of your character: Dark hair and eyes and light brown skin. Tall end of average, though something of a gymnast's build (muscular but lean, lots of thigh and shoulder). Moves quietly but is almost always in movement in some way: rocks back and forth when she thinks, taps her fingers, shifts her weight. Fidgety, but doesn't give off an anxious vibe; it might be misinterpreted (or correctly interpreted) as impatient, though.
At the beginning, keeps close to Palamedes [and feel free to say she was; Becca has permission to godmod her, but you can certainly handwave that she was close by him]. Even when on her own, typically observing more than speaking, but will have a conversation. Cool, without trying to be. Her wardrobe now that she has an actual closet runs to the practical, a combination of western cowboy/military influences and more eastern desert influences with linen and layers that are easy to move in and can cover the face or not easily: a little bit Wasteland looking without too much of the dieselpunk.

I don't honestly have any specific ideas for this except it DRIVING CAM BATTY. This specific thing will make her CRAZY and I want to do something with it. We'll figure it out. If she figures out it's fucking with Palamedes' blackjack hands, though, I might have her cash in on her natural aptitude for noticing patterns ;D because that sounds fun
Phenomena
I had an idea to have Cam and Pal get genderswapped and look eerily like each other.[Edit: after checking with mods, assuming Becca's still in, what we're going to do is not actually body swap but have multiple lightning hits change bits and pieces to a slow weird amalgam that does end up looking quite like (but not exactly like) each other.] I'm cool bc a) canon angst! b) gendershuffle, which is one of my favorite tropes to play with, and c) possible lookalike shenanigans (plus we can play with our PBs' otherwise less-usable pics, which is always fun. Maybe I'll give Cam long hair before she gets more Pal-like).
Cracks
I'm a little more interested in having her see other people's memories because she's so new, but IF we do the eye swap thing I'm interested in at least one memory where their eyes are, in fact, swapped:
-- This could be a memory of staring at (Palamedes', now her) eyes in the mirror in the bathroom when she goes to hide after Nona gives her a hand kiss exactly like Pal would
-- or, and I'd like to use this one anyway but I'd need to figure out a way she can see herself -- maybe in the reflection of the motorcycle or in Nona's eyes -- but a brief but visceral memory of standing on the beach with one eye gray and one eye brown, surrounded by dead police, bleeding and in a ton of pain but with an overwhelming lingering sense of having briefly not been alone.
Other less-related memories:
- Dueling a military-garbed lieutenant on a table in a very epic, very decrepid dining hall
- Helping examine a dead 14 year old in what's actually a kitchen made into a morgue
- Examining a puzzle box in a dusty study full of older scientists when she's 11 or so
- Teen years, lying backwards on Pal's bed arguing him into pausing his studies to eat
- Something else! I'm up for a variety of moods or flashbacks if people have things they want to learn. She has family I can throw in, PAL has family I can throw in, there's headcanons I can play with...etc.

General impressions of your character: Dax is short/petite and has a baby face. She gives the default impression of being approachable and understanding and carries herself with confidence. With her wardrobe, she'll be trying to keep a balance between looking put-together but not looking like a stick in the mud; men's button-ups, neutral slacks, neutral boots... and whatever bright shawl she sees first.
CR you're interested in: Dax attracts... all sorts. She naturally chameleons to get along with pretty much anyone - be it goofy kids or off-the-rocks teenagers or grumpy old people. She's curious by nature and is always ready to listen to someone talk, be it an excited info dump or a distressed vent. She's also pretty impulsive and can be easily looped into shenanigans.
CR you're not interested in: Pure-negative CR, 'I am your villain or you are mine' type of beat.
General ideas or plans for the month: Dax will spend a lot of time outside, watching the sky and thinking about space and stars, maybe do some yearning in the cafe. She'll be taking walks that lead her to finding people doing silly things or that lead her to shenanigans. Dax will also find a journal and start writing notes. If you catch her writing or spot the journal, she'll compare notes and ask questions.
