OOC info
Welcome to cycle 6! Did y'all miss the desert? We sure did! Not so sure about the characters, though. Don your stetsons and let's get riding!
There will be no event post on the main comm. Instead, make your own logs to include these prompts, and any other prompts you want to add. There will be a mini-event posted on the 15th.
Use the happenings form to report on what your character’s been up to! Did you break something? Did you get into a screaming match in the middle of town? Spill the tea! Everyone’s thirsty for gossip.
Post any bulletins to the bulletin board. Remember that this is now on the new

New this month
At the Staywell
The dining hall features one long table and the same meals every day: a nice, continental breakfast, sandwiches for lunch, and chili with cornbread for dinner. The floral and mushroom decor has been replaced with... bones? All kinds of bones! Animal skulls of all types, both Earthly and, well, not. Some are arranged into nice bouquets in vases.
Throughout the month, new books appear on shelves in the hotel lounge:
Solace in the ScarsAll of the books are terrible, as usual. None of them make sense. Saloon Sweethearts is actually pretty good at the beginning, until a twist in the last chapter where it turns out that the barkeep was a zombie the whole time! There is no foreshadowing.
Wild Love in a Savage World
Ruin's Requiem
Saloon Sweethearts
Desperation's Dawn: Love's Last Stand
Saddle Up for Success
Desert Wisdom
Wandering with Purpose
Howdy, Happiness!
Grit and Giggles: Laughing Your Way Through the Cattle Drive
The General Store
The General Store's stock is back to cowboy-themed memorabilia. The star this month are little knick-knacks of cowboys... jousting? You can also find little cowboy hat charms for your walkie-talkie!Around town
The diner’s special for the month: pecan pie! When you visit the few other locations in town, you’ll find the employees friendly and welcoming, although they may say some strange things, in addition to the handful of phrases they usually say:
The receptionist: "It sure is hot out there! I feel a storm coming on."
Owner of the General Store: “Hope you staywell outta the heat, you hear me?” Then he laughs at his own joke.
The bartender: “Don’t be expectin’ any free drinks.”
The waiter: Occasionally shouts the word "PIE" at full volume.
The gravedigger: She watches you ominously.
The sheriff: Crops: watered. Fur: dry. He is thriving. Keeps opening the door to the Endwell to let the moisture out. Will allow for more petting this month.
The weather
With the desert comes the heat. The sun bakes the town to a crisp simmer during the day. It's a dry heat that settles like a blanket by evening, and without any wind to temper it, it lingers even while the sun sinks. As soon as that sun is fully gone, though, the cold sets in, sharp and insistent. Winds pick up and whip through the streets, blowing dust, sand, and tumbleweeds in along with it. Desert animals and forest critters alike lurk in the streets and the dead forest. You're just as likely to come across a rattler as a wolf, a rabbit with strange antlers as a spiny hedgehog.
There's not a cloud in the big blue sky, and at night, there are a million stars.
The cistern
The cistern is nowhere to be found. If you try to break through the same walls folks have broken through in previous cycles to find the cistern, you will just find the escape rooms from the TDM. Weird! Not Quite Right
Content warnings: unreality
The town continues to giggle at you, the cacti shivering in laughter, the barrels behind the saloon chortling when you walk by, the rattlesnakes slithering between buildings hissing sneers. Just as the bricks of the Staywell warble and the sand murmurs, other things seem a bit strange, too. Sometimes, you'll reach for a door handle and your hand will go right through it. You'll reach for your mug of coffee and find that it's a jackrabbit instead, leaping away from your grip.
Things stay weird all month. Your things aren't where you put them. You open your closet, and it's someone else's clothes in there. You open a door, and you aren't where you thought you were going to be. It can be as mundane or as horrifying as you'd like. Maybe you step through a door into the middle of the desert and have to find your way back. Maybe your coffee as sweetener in it when you prefer it black.
This cycle repeats over and over again, and he twitches and stops at various points, most often when someone is there with him, and particularly if he's addressed or touched. The words he says to people are different, in different voices, with different levels of intelligibility. Comment below to see what your character hears!
There is no food served served in the diner, other than the pecan pie.
The rest of the NPCs seem mostly unaffected, although the receptionist does come out with static sometimes, his mouth falling open and radio static playing out as he stands there blankly.
Then it goes right back to the sequence that Dax and Ariane set.
tl;dr:

Walkie-talkies
Your walkie-talkies aren't the most trustworthy this month. They may just turn on and start broadcasting your conversation (or whatever else you might be doing) to the network. Oops! Did that private conversation just get broadcast to everyone else in town?!NPCs
The waiter is acting pretty strange this month, like he's stuck in his own, very short time loop. When you enter the diner, he doesn't come over to you like he normally would. His movements are stilted and strange, and he performs this set of actions:The waiter comes over to the booth in the middle of the diner which can be empty or have people in it and says: "Hi there sugarpie, what can I get ya?"The booth quickly becomes overrun with pecan pie! Take a slice before they start tumbling to the floor!
He waits for a beat, then says, "Why did the cherry pie and apple pie break up? They were having crust issues!"
He laughs at his own joke as he walks away, back to the kitchen window, then fetches a slice of pecan pie and delivers it to the booth.
This cycle repeats over and over again, and he twitches and stops at various points, most often when someone is there with him, and particularly if he's addressed or touched. The words he says to people are different, in different voices, with different levels of intelligibility. Comment below to see what your character hears!

The piano
A few months ago, some changes were made to the piano in the saloon. Sometimes, randomly throughout the day instead of the Franz Schubert song that Dax and Ariane programmed into the piano, it switches up and starts to play something different. Then it goes right back to the sequence that Dax and Ariane set.
tl;dr:
- Things are glitching around town again! Stuff isn't where you put it, things may not behave as expected.
- Walkie-talkies might betray you and broadcast random moments onto the network!
- The waiter is particularly off, and may react to your character in unexpected ways (comment below to find out how!).
- The piano is also being a little weird.
Shimmers
Content warnings: N/A
Throughout town, in and out of buildings, in the sand, shivering in the air is a haze. It shimmers and shakes and calls to you, pretty lights bouncing around and vibrating. When you approach, as soon as you step within the shining light, you're somewhere else. You're inside someone's memory. It could be yours, the person your with's, or someone else entirely.
The strange thing about these memories is that they are only of places, times, things that happened, but not of people. You may experience a stampede of buffalo or a placid lake, or a beautiful throne room. There are no people there, the memory doesn't play out as it might in your memory. But you're in that place, and you must contend with whatever it offers you. You can see the shimmering ends of the memory, and you must make it there, through whatever the memory is giving you, to escape.
If you're experiencing a place from your own memory, that memory may come to you, and you feel compelled to talk about it, to piece together why this time and place are important to you. If it's your memory and you don't want to spend memory points on it, it feels very familiar in a way that you know it's yours.
You can gain up to 3 memory points with this prompt, one for each time you engage with it, no matter whose memory you experience.

Questions?
no subject
2. Can we give our characters/visitors things related to the memory for the time they're inside it? For example, if someone goes into a memory set in one of the Infinity Train cars, could we give them numbers on their hands, the grey jumpsuits, the sick boots, etc?

It's possible I'm overthinking this (or maybe not thinking creatively enough!) but I'm having trouble imagining situations where someone would have to contend with something if there's nothing there, and I think some examples might help me!

2. As far as memories are concerned, I'd like to delve more into the demonic god inside of him. Now, Darin won't have a lot memories regarding that because he's from early on in his story but the entity inside of him would. Would I be able to have those memories experienced by Darin and whoever else sees them?

Your pronouns: he / they

Flynn!
General ideas or plans for the month: WELL. Flynn's reviving late this month. He'll be back ICly around May 3rd, plenty of time to freak all his CR out (by which I mean Yuri). After that, it's time to figure out some mysteries!!
Event ideas:
Glitches: I LOVE the absurd slapstick of opening doors to places they're not meant to open to, so would love nonsense around that. I'll probably shove up a couple prompts of Flynn opening doors to various other folks' rooms, into the middle of the street, etc, which could lead to what I really want to do, which is!! Investigate and theorize. Flynn's been trying to figure this place out for months and he has theories!! Come and poke at the edges with him. Would also love some slice-of-life-y running club stuff??
Memories & area: WHO WANTS MONSTERS. Out on the edge of town, past the bathhouse and along Flynn's usual running route is a little shimmering memory bubble full of monsters. The air is dusty and thick and the monsters are hostile. This will be a fun one to have to fight through, since the exit will be, naturally, through the horde of monsters! Flynn can protect your character, or you can protect him, ORRRR you can just kind of use this for bonus danger without Flynn there at all if you want!

Gimme the fantasies, gimme the dwagons. Honestly, Barnabas can also be dragged along for other shenanigans too, he will be keenly interested in investigating things because he's newly arrived and finds it MAYBE a little important to investigate anything he can??
The main issue is his ass defaults to solo, hm! Maybe they can run into each other in the graveyard. After all, that kinda melancholic and grim place is just his Vibe.

Light Yagami | Death Note
Your pronouns: she/her
Contact:
Character name: Light Yagami
General ideas or plans for the month: He just spent an entire month in solitary confinement inside his own skull before dying horribly, and in the process he's reacquired some memories that make it harder to deny that he's probably a murderer. Worse, the cistern's gone, so the month he spent before last mapping it and planning to attack it with an improvised explosive was all for nothing. Could this be a sign that maybe he should slow his roll and try a different approach? Of course not! Clearly, it's a sign that he was on the right track, and he was nerfed because he's a threat to the system that traps them all!
His primary to-do list this month:
--Exploring the new (old?) town to see what resources he now has
--Figuring out the best way to create a town armory
--Checking where he stands with the people he infected last month (Dax, Qrow) or otherwise burdened (Palamedes and Alec for sure, maybe Ariane, Gideon, and Darlington too?)
--Piecing together what the rest of Wellstone was up to while he was in quarantine
Event ideas: Someone suggested to me that it would be funny if Light keeps getting shoved back into the escape rooms at random moments, so I think that's a glitch he'll encounter a lot. I'm down for anything else, too--he's going to HATE the whispers.
Memories & area: Light hasn't been to a lot of super exciting places, so he's more likely to step into somebody else's memories, I think. But if you want your character to get a peek behind Light's mask, there are a few fun options:
--his bedroom (careful, the desk may explode!)
--the top-secret Kira Task Force headquarters (wonder if they left any files lying around?)

General ideas or plans for the month:
ALRIGHT SO with the diner being mostly out of commission, yuri is going to take it on himself to become the Wellstone Chef. Not that he's going to be there at all hours! But some days a week, he'll cook either lunch or dinner for folks. He will take requests, to a point. If your character likes to cook, come on over! The kitchen as a plenty!
The glitches will make his cooking more unreliable than usual, so if you want to write or handwave that your character ate some of his food, feel free to roll a die to see if it was any good or not.
He's a bit traumatized from surviving the cycle last time. If your character survived too, maybe they bonded! Happy to handwave that too and assume some deep, awful moments.
Event ideas: I'd love to harass him with the glitches. Maybe he accidentally has your character's clothes in his closet! See him wearing those around. Also interested in memories, his own and to see other folks'.
Memories & area: All of these will happen outside, on the outskirts of town.
I may have him remember nearly dying/thinking he died in the ocean.

Character name: Diluc Ragnvindr
General ideas or plans for the month: Diluc is going to resume tending to the tavern. Now to keep it from being overrun with pie and try however he can to help the Waiter. Something is going on and however strange, this is a person. When not doing that he is going to explore and map out what Well looks like now. And compare it to what it looked like before.
This is a time to be focused on mysteries because that beats thinking about last month.
Event ideas:
Glitches: The hilarity of opening a door and it leads somewhere else is something I can’t pass up. But I like the idea for Diluc specifically, he keeps opening doors and ends up places that have a lot of foot traffic or people. The lobby, etc. With a random chance of opening it and the desert far from town or the dead forest on the other side. He won’t be able to put on gloves. They’ll either vanish from his hands or end up on someone else. Some things that will be both annoying but tolerable to deal with. Minus the doors.
Shimmers: There’s a lot of really neat scenery from his memories. I’ve got some ideas on what to share. But I like the idea of what is shared be based on vibes and the dynamics of those that enter it. Empty cities that normally are teaming with life. Ancient ruins. A verdant jungle forest. Etc. There is a lot to share thanks to Diluc having traveled through a lot of it.
Memories & area: The memories I’m thinking of are all travel related. Adding background pieces to the knowledge Diluc has. Or even finally giving him knowledge of what a mage at home is even called. In short, really beautiful places full of magic and life. Sometimes imbalanced magic but, it will all be kinda magical.

General ideas or plans for the month: Darin is going to be so pissed the Cistern is missing and he's going to spend a lot of time screwing with the escape rooms again to see if they yield anything. He's also going to begin making preparations early for month 3. Using the dead forest as lumber, Darin's going to use his still limited transmutation magic to start creating fortifications. Anyone who wants to help, he'll gladly take point and assign you some duties. The more he can delegate, the more time he has to investigate the escape rooms.
Event ideas: Honestly, I'm open to anything here.
Memories & area: I would love to do some shimmering stuff. Waiting to hear back from our amazing mods but, if possible, I'd love some of the memories Darin experiences to be that of Diomuhr, the god he is technically tethered to/reincarnated from. There's a lot of lore I want to bring there.

Barnabas Tharmr
Your pronouns: He/Him
Contact:
Character name: Barnabas Tharmr
General ideas or plans for the month: Being newly arrived, Barnabas is interested in figuring out what the hell is going on. As such, he will be investigating around the town, trying to piece anything he can together with what limited knowledge/memories he currently has. Which means he will be out and about for people to see and/or interact with him.
Event ideas: Love to do some silly shenanigans with the glitches, either with Barnabas ending up somewhere he shouldn't, or that happening to someone else and ending up dealing with Barnabas. Genuinely so down for any kind of sillyness, maybe someone's underwear ends up in Barnabas' dresser. The more ridiculous the better.
Memories & area: There will be two memories of Barnabas' burdening people around town.
One will be of the Balmung Dark, a Colosseum like prison where a giant blue maneating monstrosity is kept. Anyone magical needs to be especially careful, because that's the beast‘s favorite snack. This one will be accessible on the outskirts of town to the south, near the beginning of the dead forest.
The second will be at the bottom of the ocean, but people won't be underwater, actually, the sea is parted and stands as roaring walls of water suspended, making a clean path that seems to go on forever. There's a ship that appears freshly sunk, destroyed from an impact with the hard ocean floor. After sometime, however, the walls of water will collapse in on themselves starting from beyond the sunk ship, threatening to sweep whoever remains away if they don't move fast enough. This memory will be accessible in the bathhouse just left of the main entrance, so...happy bathing..???

Character name: Ryan Akagi
General ideas or plans for the month: Ryan was a looping zombie last month and the whole thing was kind of traumatic, so he's going to be doing three major things!
- Curl up with Min-Gi as much as humanly possible, the odds of seeing them together being cute are extremely high, 100% chance of Rymin in your future.
- Having Ruby pierce his ears because he's itching to do anything that involves making decisions about his own body. Haven't settled on earrings yet but they'll be healing this cycle so he'll be trapped in a pair of novelty studs from the general store.
- Get deeply involved in Team NPC - it's not lost on him how having to loop around in a set pattern is basically what he was forced to do last month, so he'll be trying to do anything to help. More deets on that Over here!
Somewhere in all of that he will also find time to join a baseball team and read the latest Yeti romance. HELL YEAH, GETTING INVOLVED.Event ideas: His event stuff is going to deal more with the waiter and with the memory shimmers than the glitches, but that doesn't mean he's not subject to them. They're probably just more going to pepper other prompts than get their own thing. He's going to be at the diner a lot - not living there but making an appearance daily, or every other day - so if you're investigating the waiter you'll probably run into him trying to figure out the song.
Memories & area: ALL of his memories are going to be different cars from the Infinity Train (which he doesn't remember at all). Currently narrowing down options between the Iceberg Car, the Pig Baby Car, The Baby Puzzle Car, The Astro Queue Car, and the Art Gallery Car so if there's one that sounds interesting to you and you wanna know more, tell me!
In addition, anyone who goes in Ryan's memories (including Ryan) will get a sick costume change. This includes: 1 grey jumpsuit tailored to fit them specifically, 1 pair of magnet boots that can't be removed until they leave the memory, but also only work about 50% of the time per the glitching, and 1 glowing green number on the palm of their right hand, in brackets. Ryan's is [202]! in canon this number is related to the amount of growing they have to do as a person, whether it's learning from mistakes, healing from trauma, etc. All of this is decorative and since it's a memory, in theory the numbers shouldn't go up or down...but I'm not the boss of you and things are glitching all over the place so I'll leave that to your discretion.
Ryan, of course, has no idea WHY this is happening or why he looks like he broke out of space prison or something, so! Fun times for all! He thought he was from a normal world but what even IS this?!

I’m also interested in having him talk with anyone who had a weird conversation about the waiter or who would generally like to theorize about Wellstone.
Event ideas: Extremely excited to play with glitches and am open to any ideas, especially instances where glitches can be woven into other threads.
Memories & area: What memory/ies are you thinking of having appear? Where will they be around town?
The Locked Tomb is full of locked door mysteries, and locked door mysteries seem to be a theme this month…so in that spirit, Pal’s memory area will be the Caanan House laboratory facility and its trials. also he's going to end up learning how to be an umpire for the baseball game.
Event ideas: I will absolutely be using the glitches to make Młynar meet people! he's going to regularly open doors into populated places like the diner, the general store, or the baths. also, things he holds will regularly glitch into swords, sorry if you're sitting across from him at the breakfast table.
Memories & area: Młynar will have two memories up. One is the inside of a large romanesque manor- dark, old, kinda ominous. There's a sort of glowing golden mist throughout some areas of the building. The second one will just be a nice campsite in some winter woods. Not sure where in town either of these will be.
