TOWN OF WELLSTONE FALLEN INTO THE SAND
End of Cycle 6
The earthquakes escalate until they're near-constant, the ground falling away. The last 24 hours of the month are particularly horrible for anyone still on the surface. Nowhere is safe, and the place you step might be the next one to fall away. It doesn't help that the urge to hurt, to kill, will well up again and again, coming in and out like voices through radio static.
As the Staywell crumbles into the earth, something else happens, too: the membrane in the catacombs shatters apart, made weak by the earthquakes and by all the attempts to break through. Rocks slide and shatter, revealing a stone staircase heading up, and up, and up. When you reach the surface, you come out of the crumbled floor of the re-created diner. The waiter greets you with a bright smile.
Welcome back to Wellstone! The catacombs are now a permanent area that's open for explortation.

And now, the weather
The sky is hazy, heatwaves making the ground shimmer and roil. You might start to see things in the sand, in the sky, the intense heat making it hard to figure out what's real and what's not. Whatever creatures are left hide from the heat in shadows and in the cracks and crevices around buildings. You may see snakes slithering away from you, retreating from the heat.
Below ground, it's blessedly cool, as soon as you make your way down those stairs, you escape the heat, and it's almost too cold in the tunnels and caverns, the moist chill making you shiver and shake. Glowing mushrooms sprout, dimly lighting the way through the now-familiar paths of the accessible catacombs.
