Welcome to month 2! We're near the midpoint of the cycle and oh boy is it hot out there.There will be no event post on the main comm. Instead, make your own logs to include these prompts, and any other prompts you want to add. There will be a mini-event log mid-month.
Use the happenings form to report on what your character’s been up to! Did you break something? Did you get into a screaming match in the middle of town? Spill the tea! Everyone’s thirsty for gossip.

New this month
The weather
The weather continues to worsen. In addition to the dry heat from last month, heat lightning crackles across the skies at night, flashing bright. It’s joined by unusual lights in the sky. They seem to have migrated up from the edges of the desert, and they can be found hovering over town in strange formations, blinking at random before disappearing. When the lights are present, the air feels heavy, and smells of ozone.During the day, heat bakes the desert to a shimmering, cracked surface. Wildlife is practically nonexistent and even the cacti are starting to dry out. Some taller saguaros can be found swaying dangerously, their bases dry and thin. The desert is eerily silent.
At the hotel
The dining hall features one long table and the same meals every day: a nice, continental breakfast, sandwiches for lunch, and a roast for dinner.If you want to go for a swim, this month you’ll… also find an “Out of Order” sign on the door. Inside, the pool is bone dry. Uh-oh. There doesn’t seem to be enough water to fill it back up.
Water is in even shorter supply this month: The taps splutter and spit air instead of water occasionally. It takes forever to fill up a glass or a bottle. Showers will be even shorter, as the water will run out after around 3 minutes. Better hurry through that haircare routine! Don’t even try taking a bath, that tub won’t fill up.
The General Store
The General Store is still full of fun outer space paraphenalia. You can find stationary with stars on it, candles shaped like planets, slime with alien-shaped charms in it, plastic astronaut helmets, whatever your heart desires as long as it’s useless, novelty, and space-themed.This month, there’s a special on star-shaped pool floaties and novelty sunglasses! How helpful.
Around town
The diner’s special for the month: galaxy brownies! They’re thin, they’re gooey, they’re covered in chocolate frosting and cute little sprinkles.The jail’s back in action, and with it, everyone’s favorite Coyote Sheriff! This town is definitely big enough for him, too. He’ll be found at the jail during the day and the Cactus Pad at night, taking up a stool at the bar. Slide up a seat! He can’t speak any known language, but sometimes there’s value in silence.
When you visit the few other locations in town, you’ll find the employees friendly and welcoming, although they may say some strange things, in addition to the handful of phrases they usually say:
The receptionist: “Remember, we take water rationing very seriously here at the Staywell. Do your part to save water. It’s for the good of the town.”
Owner of the General Store: “Runnin’ a special on pool floaties! Make sure you stay cool in all this heat, y’hear?”
The bartender: “Remember: Alcohol dehydrates you.”
The waiter: “Boy, it’s a steamy one! How about a nice sweet tea to cool you off?” And he serves you a sweet tea, whether you want one or not.
The gravedigger: She’s nowhere to be seen during the day. At night, she’s digging graves.
The sheriff: Silently watches you like he knows what you did.
Wanted: Dead or Alive

The sheriff’s back in town, and he’s got company. Everywhere you turn, there seems to be a coyote, perched on a barrel or crossing the street, watching you with bright, intelligent eyes. They’re not menacing, exactly. They’re not trying to hurt anyone, but they’re definitely watching, waiting for something.
Unfortunately, the sheriff isn’t the only thing that’s back.
Seemingly overnight, the town is absolutely plastered with posters.
Not just any posters: Wanted posters. With your face on them.
Or, well, something that’s probably supposed to be your face. Is that really how your nose looks? Each poster has a drawing of a character, as well as a crime (or list of crimes) they’re wanted for.
There can be as many wanted posters as you like, and as many crimes as you like. The crimes can be real, or made up. They can be serious, or not. The drawing of your character doesn’t even have to be very good.
Your wanted posters could have your given name, preferred name, or it might give you a new outlaw name, reminiscent of criminals in the Old West.
When you look at one, you’ll feel a very strong urge to confess to whatever is on the poster to the first person you see. The more you hold back this urge, the more explosive the eventual confession will be, so maybe just get it over with?
As you confess, you regain a memory in that moment of whatever you're confessing to, as long as it's a real "crime" that your character committed. The memory hits them immediately.
Too bad they don't have much time to take in what just happened, because The moment you confess, you and anyone around you will be swarmed with coyotes insistently trying to herd you to jail. You can get free of this with a little creativity, but the more you confess and escape, the harder they'll try to take you to jail. If they succeed, you'll be locked up for 24 hours before being set free.
You may regain up to 3 memory points with this prompt.

It surrounds you, lighting up the ground and the edges of your vision, so bright that you can’t seem to see anything else. You’re paralyzed, standing there in the light; your limbs won’t respond to you, no matter what you do. The light flares brighter and brighter, and you’re lifted off your feet, pulled up off the ground by a force stronger than anything you know—
That’s the last thing you remember. Light, and levitation.
When you come to, you’re back in town, but you’re not where you were when you were taken. In fact, you aren’t even who you were when you were taken.
Congratulations: you’ve woken up in someone else’s body. All your memories and personality are otherwise intact, but you sound like them, you feel like them, and you certainly look like them.
Which might be a problem this month! Apparently, the sheriff and his coyotes can’t really tell that anything’s changed. Even worse: while you’ll still definitely feel compelled to confess to your crimes, should you see your own wanted poster, if you see the person whose body you’re piloting on a poster, you’ll feel the same urge to confess to their crimes as loudly as possible, and you can definitely still get arrested for them. Too bad there’s no such thing as a trial in this town!
To get your body back, there doesn't seem to be a way except to wait until the same light comes down and switches you back into your original form, although there’s an equally strong chance you’ll just become someone else instead. Everyone will be back in their original bodies by early October (although, feel free to have it take a little longer if you like!).

The lights in the sky seem to congregate over an area in the desert, and that area looks a little different than the rest of the desert. While most of the desert around town is flat and featureless, this area is craggy and irregular.
If you follow the lights, you find something that wasn’t there before: maybe revealed by the storms, or brought by the strange lights in the sky, but now this area, roughly a mile outside of town to the east, is littered with strange structures: vehicles.
And not just any vehicles: ships. Ships of all kinds. Ships made for the sea, the sky, outerspace. Ships from your world, perhaps, or from any world. Giant starships to tiny dinghies. One ship is bigger than the others: a massive structure half-buried in sand, its curved hull visible even from the town, glimmering in the overbearing sunlight.
Parts from these ships are salvageable, from sheets of metal to wood to tech that may or may not work. It all looks very old and degraded by its time in the desert. Who knows what you might find in there?

2. Cam and Dax are going to body-swap. Traditionally in ST, when temporary body-swaps happen, Dax (the symbiont) would retain the memories of what Cam does during the swap, so Ezri would have them when they're swapped back. (This of course does not include any past memories or personality notes from the person swapping. Just how the body was piloted during the swap itself.) Is it alright for this to remain true for Dax swaps in Well?

An Evil Pitch
The ship that will catch his attention while he's alone is this one here mostly buried in sand because huh, that's kind of a weird shape for a ship, what the hell is that?
But, I have an evil thought (approved by Joey). This would be a terrible time for him to switch bodies with someone, so we'd like to have Ryan get caught in a body swap beam right here (maybe there's a hole in the ceiling or it goes through the door or something) and switch with Min-Gi.
Is this feasible? And if so, what does Min-Gi find in this strange ship he's never seen before in his life? :)

He picks out something that's probably as big as a large party boat that would not look too out of place in a canon like Star Trek, or like underwater vessels that are properly designed and not likely to implode when it reaches a certain depth.
He's not especially trained, but he's from a world with a tech level comparable to our own.

General ideas or plans for the month: Darin is going to continue his demo and reconstruction of the Staywell. He's done most of the demo work on the ground floor and is working on the next floor up so if you live on that floor, you'll see him breaking down empty rooms. Come say hi!
Event ideas: -WANTED- Darin hasn't committed any major crimes but he's not above getting into bar fights and occasionally using his powers to break weapons from rival smiths who used cheap materials to pocket the differences in cost. He has scruples about that sort of thing so most of his crimes will be petty and stupid. It'll be fun.
-BODYSNATCHERS- Totally up for having Darin swap bodies with someone for a few days for funsies. Anyone want super strength and heightened resilience and also one other special power that Darin doesn't know he has? Want to be coached in managing your super strength so you don't explode doors when you open them or crush the ground when walking or flex out of your(his) clothes? I'm mostly up for shenanigans with this.

General impressions of your character: Min-Gi's hair will be less.... styled this month. These three minute showers are a slight to him specifically. Aside from that he dresses pretty smartly even with the cowboy attire. Sometimes he can be fun! But mostly he dresses like a dad. A cowboy dad.

Event ideas: I think Min's crimes are going to be more specifically things that point away from the normal, boring life he thought he had until recently this time around though I'm not sure specifically what they'll be yet. If someone wants to end up in jail with him I think he'll be confessing a few of them!
Definitely wanna do some body swapping too. Who wants to drive this uptight nerd around for a bit? I kind of want to do this a few times just to really mess with him.

She's got "weird impending throuple of doom energy" and "adopted children" covered (though she'll ALWAYS adopt more), so I'd love her to get to befriend more people! General ideas or plans for the month: Dax died at the party, and did not return until the first few days after these events began (she isolated for a short time to process, so you can also find her earlier than that if you seek her out). I really enjoy the idea of reassociation being one of her crimes just because I can imagine it going (with ANYONE) like: "what the fuck is reassociation" "Um, I made out with my ex." "....that's a CRIME? I mean, not just emotionally?"

General impressions of your character: Alec is so hot. He's so hot and he's dying and he's going to complain about this as piteously as possible. Expect to see him in ye olde Western style crop tops and handmade black cut offs, layered under a poncho solely to prevent sunburn. He will still get sunburned. His new daring approach to fashion will also show off some of his many scars, especially the long, deep, fairly fresh one running from the left side of his neck to his left elbow, and some older abdominal wounds including something that looks suspiciously like a glancing gunshot.
CR you're interested in: Anything! Alec is accumulating a surprising amount of positive CR so far, including fellow teenage dirtbags, prospective 'reiner-inners', and weird art pals (all categories that overlap). Given his likely upcoming moves this month, I expect some people might have cause to be less than thrilled with him.
CR you're not interested in: None! Throw all the negative you want my way - while Alec will be sullen about it, I the player will be delighted.
General ideas or plans for the month: Alec is starting to settle into life in Wellstone, which means he's more comfortable committing casual acts of vandalism. This month he's going to put up graffiti of a grinning horned mask on the side of the hotel unless physically stopped, and if physically stopped, he's just going to come back and continue later on.
More majorly, after experiencing the event of Wanted: Dead or Alive, Alec is going to act on possessing the town NPCs. I'm interested in plotting out him being interrupted on the gravedigger or waiter possessions, as per mod answers from here and here.
Event ideas:
Invasion of the Body Snatchers: Alec is going to be briefly bodyswapped with Olympia early in the month, which will be a fun time for him and perhaps less fun for others. He will be extremely responsible about her potentially maiming or lethal touch-based powers, by which I mean he's going to forget about them a good half of the time.
Wanted: Dead or Alive will be the event that sets off Alec's villainous instincts. His handful of Wanted posters are hard to find, and use the name Regent instead of Alec to refer to him. The crimes listed are participation in activities of criminal organization, aggravated assault, kidnapping, forcible imprisonment, and Alec's confession will reveal a memory of his involvement in a violent conflict with another supervillain group. General ideas or plans for the month: After Jane’s transformation and Dax’s death, Pal is going to finally return to an idea he vaguely thought about early on in his stay in Well. Basically, he’s asking your character to come get a necromancy physical! He wants to make note of the general age, health status, and physiology of anyone who is willing, with the thought that this information could both help the individuals learn about themselves, and could help navigate future changes or crises. ICly, there will be a bulletin board post! OOCly, I will probably put together a li’l form.

WANTED
YEAH THE POSTERS ARE BACK, NOW WITH BONUS TRAUMA. Pal will be getting a “stole a space station” one again, and this time it will trigger the memory of convincing the Sixth House to secede from the Empire. Surprise, your friendly neighborhood nerd committed treason!
Other crimes that could be fun memory regains include: Trespassing and/or Sabotage (leading to a memory of Pal and Cam breaking in to military facilities to gather information); Harboring a Fugitive (with the memory of finding Nona); or Necromancy (with a memory of learning about necromancers getting tortured by their kinda sorta allies). HELP ME PICK. Or give me other ideas.

WELP, Palamedes Sextus will be wearing the body of Camilla Hect for most of the month (and vice-versa). He will be very, very careful with said body and, given his history with inhabiting Cam’s body, will have very complicated feelings about it! Also, he won’t have necromancy! So that will be a fascinating experience.

Poor Pal, a ship graveyard shows up, and he has NO PSYCHOMETRY FOR EXPLORING. That said, he will be going exploring and will just have to do some old school detecting. I have no particular plans, but I’d love to piggyback on anyone else’s explorations.

Sorry I went dark, everyone. Couple things just sort of happened and I completely lost all motivation for this game for a while and then was ashamed to show my face. Let me know if you want to resume one of the threads I petered out on?

General impressions of your character: 6'3 old lady built like a fighter. She's clearly reserved and alert, with a tendency to be faintly annoyed or faintly amused, or both, by most things.
CR you're interested in: pretty much anything, but I most love when she has affection for someone - people who are struggling but still have a sense of compassion and want to help others are like catnip to her.
CR you're not interested in: needless (hah) hostility
General ideas or plans for the month: guh I love Need and find her easy to thread but feel like I should have her more involved than I can generally manage even without Vanishing. I'll try her for September, anyway.
Crimes... man I'm not sure what memories I could give her that don't inform her of her entire Situation. She can always try to salvage something interesting from ships! And she's held on to a variety of real weapons from a couple events ago, as well as useful fake ones, so you may be able to hit her up for a sword or something if you can prove to her that you know how to use it.
Event ideas: I love bodyswap! But if you wanted to bodyswap with her... well the good news is she'd keep her psychic powers so that wouldn't be a problem. And you wouldn't have to sleep or eat or worry all that much about water. The bad news is you'd have her mage powers and uh. strong mage powers coming on a character without training or any ramp up on how to control them would put the character at the center of some craters of destruction? Good times.

General impressions of your character: He's a muscular 8'' Clydesdale centaur. Huge! Built! So much long fur and hair! You would guess from a look at him that he means well and is not that bright. You would be correct.

Also he is a pirate and a murderer and was creepy at a girl at Dinny's so those might be Crimes for him
Event ideas: dude if you wanna bodyswap with a one-ton centaur and have tea and food appear at your character's beefy fingertips whenever they're upset I'm totally down. Let Vic think he's cured! and be dismayed!

Oh dude. Just looking at her icon (and description) I can say Cam absolutely WOULD spar with her for a sword. (Also not for a sword but PARTICULARLY for a sword.)
Although she may look like Pal, so although her strategy, know how, etc is all intact her muscle memory, reflexes and stamina are not so she may get her ass kicked.

General impressions of your character: Ariane is a short woman with long white hair, red eyes, and a generally sickly appearance. She tends to dress in dark colors, mostly red and black, with a fondness for wide-brimmed hats, vests, and flowing skirts. She can come across as a little eerie initially, although after spending three months in Wellstone, she tends to open up to others more than when she first arrived.

General ideas or plans for the month: Have you seen Elster? Now you have! Ariane's crewmate from her deep-space exploration mission is now in town, and it's stirring up a lot of complicated feelings in Ariane. We have curiosity, anxiety, guilt over not being able to remember much about her, and so on. She'll want to talk about this very exciting development a lot, so if your character has had a thread with Ariane before, there's a good chance she'd bring this up to them in some way, shape or form.
