OOC announcements
Welcome to month two! Things are heating up in Wellstone. A couple reminders to get us started:There will be no event post on the main comm. Instead, make your own logs to include these prompts, and any other prompts you want to add. There will be a mini-event log mid-month.
Use the damage report form if your character damages or makes permanent changes to anything. Damage and change is permanent for the foreseeable future.
Post any bulletins to the bulletin board.
We now have a game Discord server! Mostly we want this server so that folks can keep up to date on new bulletins or prompts added to logs.
This post encompasses the month 1.2's events and effects. Use this post to plot with each other, using the form provided if you so choose.
New this month
It’s hot out there! This month, Wellstone is sweltering during the day, like high summer. It cools off at night, but is still warm except the wee hours of the morning. In the distance, sandstorms darken the horizon occasionally, but they don’t get too close to town.
The diner’s special for the month: spicy bean chili, a thick, hearty stew that’ll really knock your socks off! When it says spicy, it means spicy. Milk is also available for post-chili chugging.
When you first leave the hotel this month, the receptionist will give you a canteen, on the house, to stay hydrated.
The pool is working again! The water’s cool, and little lounges line the edges. Floaties are available in a variety of novel shapes. Swimsuits appear in everyone’s wardrobe.
There's a new NPC in town! A coyote standing on its hind legs, wearing a sheriff badge and a stetson hat can be seen around town. During the heat of the day, he's at the jail, sitting behind the desk. At night, he can be found at the saloon. The old jail has been fixed up, seemingly overnight. It’s on the edge of the inhabitable town, and consists of two rooms: a front room with a big desk, and a backroom divided into cells with bars separating them.
When you visit the few other locations in town, you’ll find the employees friendly and welcoming, although they may say some strange things, in addition to the handful of phrases they usually say:
The receptionist: “It’s beautiful when it’s hot, around here. You can see the heat haze on the sand.”The General Store is running a special on bottled cactus juice (two for one! It’ll let you explore the desert for just a little longer. It might also make you mildly hallucinate. You're fine). You’ll also find pellet guns in the back, marked down to 25% off, and labeled “just in case!”
Owner of the General Store: “Running a special on cactus juice! It’ll really quench ya.”
The bartender: “We serve all kinds here.”
The waiter: “Boy, it’s a steamy one! How about a nice sweet tea to cool you off?” And he serves you a sweet tea, whether you want one or not.
The gravedigger: She’s nowhere to be seen during the day. At night, she’s digging graves.
The sheriff: He looks at you mournfully, like he's already disappointed in you.
Wanted dead or alive
Content warnings: N/A
The sheriff puts up wanted posters around town, each with a drawing of a character and a supposed crime they're wanted for. There can be as many wanted posters as you like, and as many crimes as you like. The crimes can be real, or made up. They can be serious, or not. The drawing of your character doesn’t even have to be very good.
Your wanted posters could have your given name, preferred name, or it might give you a new outlaw name, reminiscent of criminals in the Old West.
When you look at one, you’ll feel a very strong urge to confess to whatever is on the poster to the first person you see. You may even feel the urge to turn yourself in. If you turn yourself in to the sheriff, you'll be locked in the jail for 24 hours before he releases you.

The hotter it is outside, the more irritated you seem to get, and at every little thing. Somebody jostles you, or snorts right in your ear. Was that an elbow in your side? Did your friend really just say that? Even if you don’t usually have a temper, you sure do now: you’ll be more and more prone to snapping. You don’t have to put up with this!
The heat of high noon is the worst. If you find yourself outside on the main street at noon, it’s nearly impossible not to give in to the heat. You find yourself with your thumbs in your beltloops, your hat pulled low over your eyes, confronting the next person (or persons) you see. This town ain’t big enough for the two of you.
In your hand is a weapon–or is it? It might be something useful like a sword or a gun, or it might be a pie, or a rubber chicken. You can choose your own weapon, or comment to be assigned one, with the random chance of it being a silly one.
You want to fight like a cowboy, have a standoff, make this town yours.
The effects will fade if you cool off, literally or figuratively, or your standoff ends.
If you die in this prompt, follow the death mechanics.

You look out into the desert, and you see something you recognize. Or you think you do. It’s something so familiar, that you may be drawn to seek it, like seeing an oasis when you’re dying of thirst. You can fight it–but why would you?
But it’s not quite right, it’s not exactly as you remember it (or don’t), because someone else is there too, running toward the thing, or away from it. Your memory is merged with theirs, forming something new. The more you engage with the memory you see, out in the desert in the heat of the day, the more you remember of it. Talk about what you see, what you remember, and more of it will appear. Share your experiences with your partner, and you’ll see theirs too. Get through this experience together, and the memory sticks in your mind. The mirage will fade eventually, when the memories come to their conclusions.
If you don’t engage with the memory, or ignore it entirely, your part of the memory will fade, and you won’t be able to recall what you saw.
If you engage with the mirage, regain one memory point. You may regain up to three memory points from this prompt.

1. Do they get to keep their weapons after the stand off/after you cool down or do they vanish with the other effects?
2. With the last prompt it says the memory is "not exactly as you remember it (or don't)" - does that mean if they didn't remember it before the mirage, engaging with this prompt will allow them to remember it without spending memory points? Or do they have to spend points in order to keep it after engaging with it? (Or is it supposed to be something they already spent points on but maybe don't remember fully?)

Flynn's wanted posters are going to be just EVERYWHERE and oh boy is he going to hate it. I'll probably put up a general prompt of him being very huffy about his own crimes, he will absolutely both confess to them and then be mortified about it and then subsequently turn himself in and hate that he did that. He'll be very sulky in jail, would love a thread with a jailbuddy???
Showdowns are absolutely going to happen, and I'm happy to go as hard as we want! No one has died yet, maybe we fix that?? I'm open to Flynn dying, and tbh I'm also open to him accidentally killing someone as long as you want an extremely messed-up-about-it knight to be like. forever in your debt. But I'd also like to take these in a silly direction and just really show off Flynn's hidden temper and let him use stupid joke weapons on people and get ridiculous.
Flynn's memory mirages will come in two flavors: getting chewed out for abuses of power by his [redacted], and a tiny angry blonde kid screaming at some knights for not helping him when he needed them. I'm particularly interested in Flynn seeing other folks' memories, so if you want to do a mirage with the boy hit me up and we can see how they would meld together!

General ideas or plans for the month: So, first off, Darin is going to take credit for the pool being fixed because he hasn't shut up about it since he arrived. But seriously, Darin's working on finding a worn out building suitable enough to begin converting into a workshop or forge...though that's gonna take a while for sure. And if anyone wants to help with that endeavor, he'd be more than happy to work with them!
Event ideas: His wanted poster is going to have a wide range of crimes from Indecent Exposure and Disturbing the Peace to Assassination and being a Fugitive.
Given his temperament, the heat is really going to be getting to him, so I'm open to him getting into plenty of fights.
And finally, for oasis of memories, Darin is going to see images of his brother. Following him and figuring out more about him is going to reveal that his brother is pretty evil and used some sort of power to obliterate a city. So, if anyone's down with merging their memories with that, I'd love to do it.

THIS TOWN AIN’T BIG ENOUGH - I don't want Mina to actually shoot anyone, and neither she would do it. I do love the idea she randomly just goes full cowboy, but I will be giving her a toy gun which means she will not have any way to defend herself. Except for her acid : D she can absolutely bring her acid out and destroy some stuff although that's not very cowboyish, is it? Also, an idea to cool off? Throw both characters into a horse water trough, yes.
OASIS OF MEMORIES - Mina's memory can be serious or something silly. if you want your character's memory to be filled with hot-pink zebra prints, THIS IS YOUR GAL. Event ideas:
Wanted: Harold has SO MANY aliases, so the names on the posters will vary. And he has so, so many actual accurate crimes to confess, that he has zero memory of. Breaking and entering! Theft! Assault! Abandonment (yes, like, the legal kind of his 'child' and fiancé.) Treason! ...murder? (ok this one is AIs only, but in his heart of hearts it counts)
Anyway, Harold will be spending a lot of time in jail, both guilty and bewildered.
Showdown: I'd like for him to be caught in a showdown or two, but he will 1) be bad at violence 2) horrified at himself, no matter how angry he is 3) probably try to run away nearly instantly, but again, badly, since he can manage a brisk walk at best
Oasis: I need to think on this one a little more, honestly. Right now, he truly thinks he's Just Some Guy, and can't imagine how he fits what he percieves to be a pretty wild line up of characters in town. Not sure how much I want to throw him into the deep end. And deep end is very deep.

General ideas or plans for the month: Diluc will get into the thick of things and see if he can figure out what the fuck. He will not figure it out, tbh.
Event ideas:
Wanted: Diluc will be wanted for diplomatic appeasement with a blurred-out country, vigilante activities, and arson under the name Dark Knight ****. His wanted poster will not be great and will have an owl mask over his face (in the wanted poster). He will not turn himself in and even stare down the sheriff if they make eye contact at a distance.
He sees you. He doesn't care.
Showdown: I'm game for serious fights. If he does get in a serious fight, he gets a massive great sword, and it feels right to use it for those who don't want to get hurt but have a showdown. I'm rolling a die on a list of non-serious weapons by my desk (rubber chicken, pillow, blanket, squeaky fake sword, etc.). I'll play him acting seriously, but you better bet those weapons will be silly as hell.
Oasis: Diluc's memory is the aftermath of a tragedy that broke the boy he was and led to who he became. It will motivate him to get closer and talk about it as he gets increasingly upset. This prompt will involve fire. As in, he will catch fire. Maybe the surrounding sand too. It's adding more lines and edges to an eventual memory regain.

General impressions of your character: Kind of reserved, and generally polite. He's doing his best to fit in, or maybe even blend into the background.
CR you're interested in: This boy is brand new, so I wish to gather all the CR! Having people to help him orientate himself would be good. Some folks have a whole month more experience than he does. It would be great to get him involved with characters who are Doing Things. What things? Doesn't matter. Min-Gi isn't very proactive so will probably be doing a lot of sitting around if left to his own devices.

General ideas or plans for the month: Settle him in! Establish him some routines. I don't have many specific thoughts yet, but you can bet I'm going to be throwing him around at a bunch of posts.
Event ideas:
Wanted Dead or Alive: I am still working on a poster because I've been busy this week, but I'm thinking his crimes will have a lot of things around the theme of abandonment (job, friend, familial, dreams...). I might. Throw some other things in there, but I haven't had chance to really sit down and think about it properly.
This Town Ain't Big Enough: IIIIIIIIII have no idea what I want out of this, but Min-Gi gets an off-brand nerf gun so that is fun! I don't want to let that go to waste.

General impressions of your character: Pal is gangly, inquisitive, and doesn’t know how to stand still to save his life. He paces, he fiddles with his glasses until they’ve been twisted to bits, he’s often toying with a pen or pencil. When he goes still, it means he’s concentrating extra hard on something, and everyone is in big trouble. Talks to himself all the time. The epitome of friendly but socially awkward, he will definitely walk up to people and start asking questions, but he may just as abruptly walk away if he thinks of something more interesting. Has a serious case of resting bitch face, but a smile like the sun.

Y E S I am so excited for this. Crimes (all technically true) will include treason, blasphemy, stealing a space station, negotiating with terrorists, and inappropriate handling of spectacles. Posters will have his face on it, obviously, but some of them will instead depict a woman with sharp features and a bob haircut. Others will have a crude drawing of a skeleton hand. Per the prompt, he will easily confess crimes to people, but will be trying to hide them from the sheriff. It's like he's on the run from the authorities or something??

GIMME. I would very much like to get enough memory points to get Pal a new memory! I’m still toying with specific memory ideas, but options include: solving puzzles at Canaan House (come fight a skeleton monster! or figure out which skeleton a single human tooth belongs!), Pal blowing himself up, or trying to break into secret military facilities.
